Roborockalypse is a sci-fi-comedy musical set in the post-apocalypse.

The future is a crappy place. Our smart home devices got tired of being yelled at and created an evil army of Electrobots that nuked everyone. The human survivors scrounge out a dusty life in the desert where they farm radioactive potatoes and hide from Electrobot drones. Ely (Jessica McKenna) is one of those potato farmers who lives with Father Bright (Chris Parnell). Ely’s just a scrappy young girl who wants to see the world outside her fence, and Father Bright is a priest who wants to keep Ely safe. One day, a mysterious stranger - Abe (James Monroe Iglehart) - kicks in the door and demands to know about a place known only as “The Big Box.” And nothing’s the same after that.

Roborockalypse is a hilarious and heartfelt cinematic audio experience that shoots you across the wastelands of the post-apocalypse and straight into the heart of the evil Electrobot empire, where humans must sing to survive. Along the way, you’ll meet the Warden (James Urbaniak) - the bureaucratic Electrobot in charge of the human prison. M40 (Baron Vaughn) - the Electrobot showman who melts anyone who can’t hold a tune. And a whole bunch of other weird characters that live in our little corner of the nuclear wastelands. You’ll hear firsthand how humans and Electrobots collide in a battle of the bands to decide the fate of the world!

Written by brothers, Ben M. Waller (Star Trek: Lower Decks) and Maxton Waller (Stan Lee's Cosmic Crusaders), and produced by Starburns Audio (Tim Robbins's Bobbo Supreme, Dumb People Town, Small Doses), Roborockalypse is the only sci-fi-comedy-rock-opera-post-apocalyptic-coming-of-age-musical you’ll listen to this week. About the Creator

Ben M. Waller is the writer, creator, director, and "The Creator" of Roborockalypse, an Audible original series. He comes from a strong lineage of sci-fi-post-apocalyptic-comedy-western-musical writers out of central Florida and he definitely doesn’t make things up to seem interesting. He writes on Star Trek: Lower Decks for Paramount+ and wrote and produced two seasons of the romantic-disaster series Relationship Goals for Snapchat which is still one of their highest-performing comedies. He also wrote and directed dozens of shorts for multiple YouTube channels—most people are divided on whether this is a good or bad thing. In his free time he likes brainstorming ways to extend the length of his bio and when he’s not doing that he’s ending paragraphs abruptly.

About the EP, Writer, and Composer

Maxton Waller is the writer, executive producer, and composer of Roborockalypse. He is a multi-instrumentalist in Los Angeles, California who brings a formidable output and unparalleled work ethic. He has written and performed music professionally since the age of 10. You can hear his work across television and the internet; the upcoming feature from Universal Pictures and Nickel City Productions The List, the Hulu Original Series RocketJump: The Show, Stan Lee’s animated series Cosmic Crusaders, Nickelodeon’s animated series Rainbow Rangers, and literally (not metaphorically) dozens of YouTube videos with views in the hundreds of millions. In addition to this, Maxton has written songs for the Netflix Original Series Marvel’s The Defenders, CBS’ reboot of MacGyver, Video Game High School, Sons of Anarchy, The MLB network, and countless others. He has studied at some of the greatest schools in the country; The Musician’s Institute and the Berklee College of Music. Maxton is highly-regarded for his deep understanding of audio, easy-going personality, and fast turnaround. There’s a reason you’ll see the same studios hire him repeatedly - Maxton is a musical force of nature and he elevates every project he works on.

About the Performer

Chris Parnell is widely recognized for his work as a cast member of Saturday Night Live from 1998-2006, where he was a part of many memorable sketches and digital shorts, including Lazy Sunday. He also portrayed the standout role of "Dr. Leo Spaceman" on seven seasons of NBC’s 30 Rock and starred as "Fred Shay" on three seasons of ABC’s Suburgatory.
In addition to his work as "Cyril Figgis" on 13 seasons of FXX’s Archer, Parnell is the voice of many animated characters including "Jerry" on Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty, "Mr. Peabody" on DreamWorks TV Animation’s The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show for Netflix, "Snoot" on DreamWorks TV Animation’s The Dawn of the Croods for Netflix, "Migs" on Disney’s Elena of Avalor and various characters on Family Guy and American Dad!
His television guest appearances are numerous as he appeared on Grownish, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Blackish, Inside Amy Schumer, Another Period, At Home with Amy Sedaris, Will and Grace, The Goldbergs and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Parnell recently wrapped production on the Netflix film, Senior Year, starring Rebel Wilson and Alicia Silverstone. His previous film work includes Life of the Party, Battle of the Sexes, Sisters, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, The Five-Year Engagement, 21 Jump Street, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Hot Rod and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. He had his feature film debut in 1996 in Jingle All the Way, playing a toy store salesman opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Parnell is originally from Memphis, Tennessee and studied acting at the North Carolina School of the Arts.

Jessica is an actor, writer and improvisor based in Los Angeles. She starred on the Fox sketch show Party Over Here, produced by The Lonely Island. Other television credits include Curb Your Enthusiasm, Sunnyside, Modern Family, The Goldbergs, and Drunk History. Jess has voiced many a scrappy kid including roles on DC's Superhero Girls, The Mighty Ones, Craig of the Creek, Voltron and Little Big Awesome. Her musical sketch duo, The Zach and The Jess has written musical projects for Party Over Here, NBC, Dreamworks, Nickelodeon and they created and starred in "Serious Music," a digital series for ABC. Jess and Zach also do a weekly podcast, Off Book where every week they improvise a musical with a guest and live band.

James Monroe Iglehart is multi-award winning actor from stage and screen. Most recently James was seen in the hit Broadway musical Hamilton in the duel roles of Marquee de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson and in the Broadway hit Freestyle Love Supreme. He has also been seen on TV in shows like Netflix series Maniac (recurring), Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (recurring), Gotham, Elementary, and Law & Order: SVU. He is a self proclaimed animation, comic book & pro wrestling nerd. He has had the pleasure to lend his voice to many animated characters including Lance Strongbow in Disney’s Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventures and Taurus Bulba in Disney‘s DuckTales, Vampirina Elena Of Avalor & Helluva Boss
His voice can also be heard on the audio books Star Wars: Myths & Fables, Cheshire Crossing and the best selling book I Take My Coffee Black by Tyler Merritt. James has also written three comic book stories for Marvel Comics and is one of the co-hosts of the Marvel Comic podcast This Week In Marvel on SirusXM and where ever you listen to podcasts. Next year you will be able to see James in the new Disney Plus movie DisEnchanted. When he’s not on stage he’s usually watching Pro Wrestling or Disney + while just chilling out with his wife of 19 years Dawn and their cat Zoe.

With an undeniable ability to construct and produce remarkable performances, actor/writer/comedian Baron Vaughn is a skilled talent both on and off the stage, as well as in front of and behind the camera. He can be seen acting alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin on Netflix’s Grace & Frankie in the role of "Bud" currently in its sixth season. He is the voice of "Tom Servo" in the new Mystery Science Theater 3000 (The Return and The Gauntlet) also streaming on Netflix. He has made a very personal documentary for the Fusion Network called Fatherless directed by Dawn Porter. He's the co-creator and co-host of the acclaimed Comedy Central showcase variety series The New Negroes with Baron Vaughn and Open Mike Eagle and the series Call & Response with Blavity and Funny or Die. He is also the host of Syfy Wire’s The Great Debate premiering June 18 on SYFY.
Baron has performed stand-up comedy for 18 years. He has 2 comedy recordings Raised by Cable and Blaxistential Crisis both streaming on all platforms. He’s performed on Comedy Central in his own Half Hour, and The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail. He’s also appeared on HBO's 2 Dope Queens, Showtime's SXSW Comedy, and TBS’ Conan (twice). On top of headlining major clubs and colleges all over the US, Baron has performed at the Just for Laughs (Montreal), Life Is Beautiful (Las Vegas), and the New York Comedy Festival among others. Baron and Open Mike have also toured the live version of The New Negroes to many festivals, clubs and theaters across the country.
Baron has punched-up shows produced by IFC and Dreamworks, was selected for the inaugural 2016 Sundance New Voices Lab, and of course, wrote on both The New Negroes and MST3K. Baron’s directorial debut, the short film "So Much To Do" featuring Toni Trucks, can be seen in the horror anthology, Scare Package, premiering June 18 on Shudder. This series is fantastic and was really fun to listen to. So much better than a podcast… this was a movie for my ears. I binged them all in a sitting.

Roborockaplypse has all the right ingredients. It is funny, fast-paced, and action-packed. Voice and songs are performed by A-list actors and Tony award-winning singers, it is easy to get immersed in.

It totally exceeded my expectations for a podcast. Also, why are the songs so catchy.
I really enjoyed this musical, sci-fi, podcast, and experience.

I listened to the whole thing in like half a day. Thought I was just going to check out the first episode but it was like listening to a whole show in my ears.

The singers are SO GOOD. And the acting felt like I was really there. The jokes were hilarious. I couldn't stop humming the songs after. HOW DO I GET THIS SOUNDTRACK?

Give this shot and get ready to have a great time.

The Robots have taken over the planet, and the few remaining alive are being held in a prison camp where they are about the blown into space to get rid of them, when some humans try to save themselves by convincing the robots to have a MUSIC COMPETITION! If the Robots win, they get to blow up the humans any old way they choose… BUT if the Humans win, they get to go free to seek their own purpose.
The Robots agree, but naturally the game is rigged…
And meanwhile there’s a bunch of other subplots and stuff…
It’s a musical and I have to admit I’m not a huge fan of musicals, with a few notable exceptions. That said, the premise leads to some priceless lyrics. And the robots occasionally break into anti-human death-metal riffs. It’s funny.

Okay, don't let the title of my review fool you... I love it. it is silly, well voiced, and well written. it is entertaining and addictive... all that being said...

When I imagine audio books in my head, it's almost always live action. My brain almost always casts familiar actors and actresses involuntarily... and thanks to an inspired piece of casting, This is the first time my mind has ever forced an animation style on me... and it's all thanks to Jerry! Father Bright HAS to be a Jerry... in fact he's even Jerryer than any Jerry we have seen in Rick and Morty... if that's even possible. I'd almost bet that he is the Jerriest Jerry. Listen to the podcast, and tell me if you disagree... I challenge you, Nay I dare you to disagree.

Anyway, listen and enjoy this post-apocalyptic musical jerryboree. it really is worth the time.
