Redwood Wellbeing

By: Alyssa Said
  • Summary

  • Over a decade of struggling with poor body image and eating disorders, I knew I had to heal my relationship with food and my body—not only for myself, but for my future children. I was determined to break the cycle of dieting and body loathing and raise my children to accept their bodies and follow their intuitive eating cues. Now as a mother, I've discovered that so many parents share the same concerns. They want to know how to best support their children's food and body image relationships. This podcast is for those parents who seek non-judgmental, evidence-based, and practical support to navigate their children's journey towards intuitive eating and body confidence, no matter their age. Each week, we’ll explore the latest research, answer your questions, and provide actionable tips to help you support your child in developing a positive relationship with food and their body.

  • A body image healing journey with Hannah
    Nov 14 2024

    Hello and Welcome to the Redwood Wellbeing Podcast, where each week I am dedicated to supporting parents on the journey of nurturing their child's healthy relationship with food and their body image.

    Through practical, everyday strategies and tips, I help you to become empowered to make a lasting difference in your child's wellbeing journey.

    In this episode I'm joined by my old friend Hannah, who has been on a journey of healing her poor body image since childhood. She shares with us;

    • Her insight into how we can make supportive choices as parents so that our children hopefully don't go down that same path of body dissatisfaction.
    • How she felt like she had to hide her struggle from her friends and family and portray confidence instead.
    • How throughout her childhood there were constant messages about bodies that made her feel unworthy in hers.
    • How she began to rebel with food.
    • How her insecurity impacted her relationships
    • The mental and emotional work she has done to begin healing, and the inner dialogue shifts she is still working on.
    • Her hopes for the future as she continues to heal.
