• 4 Truths with Terry Tucker
    Nov 8 2024

Terry is a speaker, author, and international podcast guest on the topics of motivation, mindset, and self-development.

In this episode, Terry shares stories of how athletics and life experiences have taught him the principles and truths on how to be successful, which are intertwined in his book, Sustainable Excellence, Ten Principles To Leading Your Uncommon and Extraordinary Life.

    The 4 Truths include:

    1. Control your mind, or it will control you.

    2. Embrace the pain and difficulty we all experience in life and use it to make you stronger and more resilient.

    3. What you leave behind is what you weave in the hearts of other people.

    4. As long as you don't quit, you can never be defeated.

Terry gives a great exercise on figuring out what you can control so you can put your energy and resources into those things instead of things you cannot control. He talks about the importance of communication and the formula 7-38-55 in which he learn during his law enforcement days, and how a professor challenged him to go deeper in conversations with others in asking just three questions.

  • How To Be A Better Person
    Nov 6 2024

In this world that seems to focus on negativity, violence and putting ourselves first, how can we be better people? How can we get into the season of Thanksgiving, gratitude, and giving?

Maybe through a 2 true stories of ordinary people, Marty and Johnny, who made a lasting impact on others through small acts and by showing up as themselves.

In this episode, Peggy shares the story of Marty, told by V.J. Smith, in his book, The Richest Man in Town and of Johnny the Bagger. Both stories are stories of customer service, but really shows us all how to be better people.

    Lessons from Marty:

    • Relationships matter most in life.
    • Try to do a little more.
    • Only you can make you happy.

Lessons I take away from both:

    • You can create a ripple effect on others.
    • You can start with a small act of kindness.
    • Listen to your heart and to others.
    • Do what is authentic and genuine to you.
    • Be Sincere.
    • Let your intentions and actions come from your heart.
    • Repeat every day.

  • The Person in the Mirror
    Oct 30 2024

Every problem you are facing starts with the person in the mirror. I heard this statement recently and it really stuck with me, and then it made me think of Michael Jackson’s song, “Man in the Mirror”.

How many times have you looked at yourself in the mirror and wondered, How did I get here?

Life is full of excuses and choices. Dr. Andy Galpin said, "The aging you want tomorrow begins with the choices you make today.”

Who do you want to be 5, 10, 20 or 50 years from now?

In Dr. Joe Dispenza’s book, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, he shows through science that when you live from the future, from a place of who you want to be, you will rewire your brain to match the person you want to become. This is the same concept that Dr. Benjamin Hardy talks about in his book, Be Your Future Self Now.

Our future self begins with the choices we make today.

    Start living your future now.

    • Start by looking at yourself in the mirror and being honest by acknowledging you are both the problem and the solution.
    • Choose your future self.
    • Acknowledge your past behaviors, thoughts, experiences, and the meanings you gave them are dictating and influencing your present and your future.
    • Choose behaviors and thoughts that are congruent with your future self.
    • Be ok with being uncomfortable, having hard conversations, saying no, and doing things differently in order to retrain your brain and others to your new future reality.
    • Repeat.

Look at the person in the mirror and choose to be your future self now.

  • Mindfulness & ADD with Deanne Dietz
    Oct 18 2024

"Wherever You Go, There You Are" by Jon Kabat Zinn is what started it all for Deanne after receiving a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). She became a Brain Health Coach with the Amen Clinic and used herself as a test subject to get her brain back.

In this episode, Deanne shares how she used her diagnosis of ADD to get her health under control, become aware of what she was exposing herself to, and learn how to check in with her body, increase mindfulness, and healthier ways to stimulate dopamine, or the feel good hormone.

Deanne explains that a mindfulness practice can start with just a few seconds of noticing what is going on in the present moment to gradually increasing the ability to look within and noticing the signals the body is giving you.

Benefits of mindfulness: increases dopamine stimulation, allows for full experience of a moment, builds connection, brings out what you value, and allows you to listen to your heart.
