Neha: Liebe Zuhörerinnen und Zuhörer, wie geht es euch? Heute werden Rahul und ich über Toledo sprechen – das unseren nächsten Aufenthalt unserer ersten Spanienreise im September 2019 war!

Rahul: Am 6. September 2019, fuhren Mike, Donna, Neha und ich mit dem Bus von Madrid nach Toledo.

Neha: Toledo ist wegen der kulturellen Einflüsse vom Christentum, Islam und Judentum zu allen ihren Zeiten als die „Stadt der drei Kulturen“ bekannt.

Rahul: Ja, und deshalb wurde Toledo 1986 wegen ihres umfangreichen monumentalarkitekturen und kulturellen Erbes von der UNESCO zum Weltkulturerbe deklariert.

Neha: Der Tejo hat einen Hügel aus der Landschaft geformt. Auf diesem Hügel liegt die historiche Stadt Toledo. Deswegen war unserer Weg vom Busbahnhof in Toledo zu unserer Airbnb Wohnung ziemlich schwierig.

Rahul: Wir haben uns für eine Weile in unserer Wohnung ausgeruht und danach gingen wir zum Museum von El Greco.

Neha: Das Museum wird, wie seine Name schon empfiehlt, dem Werk und dem Leben von El Greco gewidmet, und beherbergt eine komplette Serie von 13 Gemälden, die Christus und seine Anhänger darstellen.

Rahul: Als nächstes gingen wir zur St.-Martins-Brücke, die eine mittelalterlichen Brücke über den Fluss Tejo ist.

Neha: St.-Martins-Brücke, die im 14. Jahrhundert gebaut wurde, hat 40. Metern lange fünf Bögen. Nur sehr weinige Brücken der Weld waren zum Zeitpunkt ihrer Erbauung so lang.

Rahul: Es war schon Abendessenzeit, und da wir eine nette Wohnung mit Küche hatten, haben wir Lebensmittel eingekauft, und ein nettes Essen gekocht. Dies war auch das erste Mal, dass Dona begann, ihre leckere Sangriya aus Orangensaft und Rotwein zuzubereiten.

Neha: NaJa, von jetzt an bis zum Ende unserer Spainienreise kochte Donna oft Sangria und wir genossen sie oft mit spanischer Tortilla, Gazpacho und Guacamole.

Neha: Hello Listeners, how are you doing? Rahul and I are going to talk today about Toledo - our next stop in our 1st Spain Trip in September 2019!

Rahul: On 06 September 2019, Mike, Donna, Neha and I took an hour long bus from Madrid to Toledo.

Neha: Toledo is known as the "City of the Three Cultures" for the cultural influences of Christians, Muslims, and Jews throughout its history.

Rahul: Yes, and therefore, Toledo was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 for its extensive monumental and cultural heritage.

Neha: The Tagus River has carved a hill out of the countryside. Sitting on top of this hill is the historic city of Toledo. Therefore, our walk from the Toledo bus station to our Airbnb apartment was quite a task.

Rahul: We rested for a while in our apartment and then headed to El Greco Museum.

Neha: The Museum, as the name suggests, is devoted to the work and life of El Greco, and houses a complete series of 13 paintings portraying Christ and his disciples.

Rahul: Next, we headed to the St Martin's Bridge, which is a medieval bridge across the river Tagus.

Neha: St. Martin's Bridge constructed in the 14th century features five arches having a span of 40 meters. Only very few bridges in the world were that long at the time of its construction.

Rahul: It was time for dinner, and since we had a nice apartment with kitchen, we got groceries and cooked a nice meal. This was also the first time Donna started making her delicious Sangria using Orange juice and red wine.

Neha: Yeah, from now until the end of our Spain trip, Donna would often make Sangria and we would savor it often with Spanish tortilla, gezpacho and guacamole.
