Investigators believe a man shot and killed two next-door neighbors before turning a gun, fatally, on himself. Tonight is the first evening session of public hearings in Philadelphia City Council on the proposed Sixers arena on Market Street. The New Jersey Turnpike Authority on Tuesday voted to approve the $2.7 billion budget for next year, which includes a 3% increase in tolls on the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway. The increases take effect Jan. 1.

Philadelphia City Council has begun taking public testimony on the 76ers proposal for a center city arena. A Northeast Philadelphia post office could soon be renamed in honor of a Temple University police sergeant killed in the line of duty. Upper Merion High School sent a letter home to parents earlier this week alerting them to a case of whooping cough in the school. Montgomery County health officials say, after a high number of cases in the spring through the summer, the numbers are on the decline. The New Jersey Turnpike Authority has voted to approve the 2025 budget, which includes a 3% increase in tolls on the turnpike and parkway.
