  • The Burden
    Sep 12 2022

In this episode I share a poem that describes the negative side of being a symbol. In my case what it feels like when people think I represent the entire Black race. But, other people can apply it to their identities as well. I'd love your thoughts and please subscribe and share.

  • A Resurrection Story
    Jul 12 2022

This is only the second time in my life that I can remember not going to a church service on Easter and the only time in 10 years that I wasn’t part of leading a worship service. When I woke up automatically before sunrise and started talking to Yeshua, (I think I might stop saying Jesus so much. At least in my inner dialogue.) I asked the question, “What is something new I could learn about the Resurrection?” What came into my heart immediately was, “You all are meant to see yourselves as the Empty Tomb.” My eyes started to tingle and glisten as I let that awareness sink into my heart. I then asked myself why we don’t think of ourselves that way. The above poem was the answer that came to me. I hope it blesses you as it blessed me.

  • Apology to The Mother
    Jul 9 2022

This poem is one that was different than many of my other poems. I wrote it when I went to sit by a creek to meditate and noticed that the brook was no longer babbling--a sad sign of climate change. Thankfully we have art to help us process this and rebuild our strength to keep working toward creating a sustainable future for all.

  • Indescribable Impetus
    Jun 15 2022
So much of what makes this life beautiful is indescribable. In fact, often trying to put our imaginations into words imposes limits that do not exist in silent contemplation. In this poem, I attempt to give voice to what cannot be described. This episode is also available as a blog post: http://itsallinme.com/2022/06/06/indescribable-impetus/

  • Everything Breaks
    Jun 7 2022

Do you look at this mad world and wonder what the eff is going on? I do to. This poems from sitting with the madness in light of some questions asked of me by my four year old. It is darkest before it illuminates. But once you see what it is trying to offer, my hope is that you will find grace in never being able to unsee it again. Everything breaks.
