    Join us on our latest episode where we talk all things Bourbon County. Not about the actual county in Kentucky, but about the glorious liquid produced once a year from Goose Island Brewery in the form of their Bourbon County Brand Stout.

    In this episode we talk about the upcoming releases from the Bourbon County Brand portfolio and we also revisit a past botte, 2015 Rare. From the Bourbon County website, Back in 1979 the folks at Heaven Hill Distilleries filled a handful of new freshly charred American white oak barrels with some of their finest whiskey. It is rare for Bourbon to age in barrels for more than twenty-three years. But these barrels patiently sat for over thirty years. The extra years developed a distinct and complex character that makes them truly one-of-a kind. We filled those barrels with Bourbon County Brand Stout, and then stored them away in our Chicago Barrel House to age for two more years. With these rare barrels from our friends at Heaven Hill we believe this is one of the finest beers we have ever produced. This is Goose Island Rare Bourbon County Brand Stout for 2015

The inception of this series began in 2017, with Heaven Hill partnering with two like-minded companies, Beck’s Hybrids and Peterson Farms, "taking quality and transparency one step further – starting with the seed."

    We are reviewing the first edition of Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey aged for six years in rickhouse W3 on the third, fourth and fifth floors. It was bottled at barrel proof without chill filtration at 123.2 proof. The corn seed varietal chosen for this release was Beck’s 6158.

Private Press is a member only brewery based out of Santa Cruz, CA that focuses only on barrel aged beers (imperial stouts and barleywines). This endeavor is a one man show, led by Brad Clark (formerly of Jackie O's Brewing out of Ohio).

    The beer reviewed is Mizunara Electric Roads. a double barrel-aged barleywine comprised of a blend of 3 different barleywine recipes. The final blend was conditioned on Mizunara and is 17.3% ABV and only yielded 550 bottles.
