  • 1924 - We Live in a Society
    Mar 24 2023

Back in the "studio" for another episode! As we close in on the last 5 years of silent film, we're getting some true bangers. The hits keep coming! We've got the movie that was Cris's introduction to loving silent film, Sherlock Jr., and the action adventure masterpiece The Thief of Bagdad, a movie that seems chemically engineered to be a Glen favorite. Plus Lon Chaney has a stunning turn as cinema's OG sad clown. Check it out!

  • 1923 - On Location at the Kansas Silent Film Festival!
    Mar 8 2023

The first episode recorded in person! We went to Kansas to see a jam packed lineup of 1923 films, all with live score! In this episode we get to Harold Lloyd's magnum opus, Charlie Chaplin directing high drama, and Cecil B. DeMille building Egypt on the beach! Just a heads up, the audio for this one is a bit lower quality, since we recorded most of it in a car.

  • 1921 - Death Wears a Big Hat
    Feb 8 2023

1921 was short on big movies, but we get into the ones which stood out. Avant Garde animation that's good to put on in the background at a party, Charlie Chaplin weaponizing cuteness, and European ruminations on death! Fun times!

    Jan 11 2023

This week is a special one-off episode (vepisode) where we're taking a look at both the 1996 film and 2022 HBO series Irma Vep with guest Jack Virnich!

Heads up, its probably a good idea to watch both (especially the show) before listening. The discussion gets a bit heady and might not make a lot of sense if you haven't seen them. But you should see them anyway because they are good!
