Now We're Here...How Do We Get Out?

By: Peter Egan & Andrew Telling
  • Summary

  • It’s reasonable to say that man has colluded in his own destruction - the only organism on Earth knowingly to do so. For we are aware that intensive animal farming leads to significant climate change, deforestation and the spread of disease. Yet, 99% of all animals are farmed in this way. Furthermore, our increasing reliance on fossil fuels and non-biodegradable materials has led to scientific studies citing a future climate catastrophe. At the heart of it all are humans and we find ourselves teetering on the edge of a perilous precipice. Actor and animal activist Peter Egan and filmmaker Andrew Telling want to know. How do we get out? What can we do to mitigate the current environmental mess and reinstate a sense of ecological balance? In this podcast, Peter and Andrew speak candidly about the issues facing us and explore possible solutions. They talk to global experts on specific issues, sharing their wisdom and insight. Importantly, the discussion is open to all and all opinions are welcome. Judgement is not a pathway to change, nor is it conducive to finding solutions. Questions, thoughts and feedback and welcome. • Episode Eight - What, Exactly, Does Woke Mean?
    Mar 15 2023
It’s been a while, but Peter and Andrew are back with another 25 minutes of animal welfare and conservation musings. This month, they talk about the abandoned lock down pets, how zoos might look in the future and the true meaning of ‘being woke’. It’s a thorny issue, and fraught with potholes, but the origins of woke are way more interesting then we think. Oh, and Andrew spends most of the chat having his chin and ear chewed by Peter’s Staffie, Pippa!

  • Episode Seven - Myra Egan
    Aug 9 2021
Possibly one of the hardest Podcasts Peter has ever recorded. In this episode, he and Andrew talk about the recent passing of Peter’s wife and friend of 50 years, Myra. A truly open, honest and candid discussion about death, what it means for the individual left behind and the complex scale of emotions that arise. And how Myra changed Peter’s world view and remains the driver and companion for everything he does and will do in the name of animal welfare. For Myra. 13 April 1942 - 30 March 2021

  • Episode Six - The Hidden Cost of Farmed Fish
    Mar 24 2021
Coinciding with the launch of Compassion in World Farming’s Rethink Fish campaign, Peter and Andrew invite CEO Philip Lymbery to reveal the true cost of farmed fish. The Scottish salmon farming industry is rife with fish welfare issues and serious environmental problems. At current production levels sea lice infestation and disease are out of control, causing fish suffering on an alarming scale and threatening wild fish populations. Compassion in World Farming have launched an open letter to the Scottish government, urgently calling for a moratorium on the expansion of the industry, with a view to phasing out intensive salmon farming (www.ciwf.org.uk/ScottishSalmon) This is a fascinating and eye-opening conversation, shedding a light on something many of us don’t often think about. Peter and Andrew delve deep into a subject that some find will uncomfortable. Our intention is always to give the listener real, honest and scientifically backed information that enables a person to make informed choices. And, as always, we invite discussion and conversation so please let us know your thoughts and questions at life@orangeplanetpictures.com. Genuine concern for this planet and animals

I've been a huge fan of Peter Egan, the actor, for decades; thus, I have also followed his animal welfare activism over the years as well. He travels the world ding great things for animals in the wild and companion pets. Because of the supposed source of COVID, this podcast is incredibly important, presented by two men who are serious and have the credentials to back up everything they're saying. If you care about this planet, your community, your family, your life, LISTEN to this podcast. LEARN from it. BE INSPIRED to make a change. TAKE ACTION to the best of your ability, in anyway you can. Start somewhere. Thank you dear Peter and Andrew for your efforts!
