Acerca de esta escucha

Hosted by two friends who share a passion for the wilderness and a fascination with what can go wrong there, each week hosts Danielle and Cassie explore the darker side of our National Parks and explore these treasured places in a whole new way - because behind the iconic arches and towering trees lie layered histories, grisly encounters, extraordinary stories of survival, tragic ends and so much more. But it isn’t always chills and thrills. By sharing inspiring tales and their desire for protecting our planet’s wild places, they hope the show will inspire listeners to lace up their own hiking boots and take a walk into the wild to create meaningful adventures of their own.939760 Ciencias Sociales Crímenes Reales Escritos y Comentarios sobre Viajes

  • 298: Robbery Gone Wrong. Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument.
    May 12 2025
On October 11th, 1923, deep in Tunnel 13 high in the Siskiyou mountains of Oregon, four men were killed in a train robbery gone wrong. The trio responsible, the DeAutremont brothers, had planned the crime and dreamed of stealing their way to a life of riches but made a series of fatal mistakes that would haunt them forever. What has gone down in Pacific Northwest history as “the last great American train robbery” is also recognized as the birth of modern American forensic criminology. • 296: The Deadliest Avalanche in U.S. History. Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
    May 5 2025
In 1910, two trains became stranded in Washington’s Cascade Mountains during a record-breaking snowstorm. After six harrowing nights, a massive avalanche swept them off the mountainside — the deadliest avalanche in U.S. history. More than a century later, one question still lingers: could the disaster have been prevented?

All of their episodes are a delight. Well researched and presented in a quirky manner sure to keep your attention no matter how old you are. They've been criticized for swearing, but I enjoy their candid nature. It might take 3-4 episodes before you find yourself wondering what else there recorded. Sadly I'm all caught up and have to wait for new releases.
I highly recommend you start with their TRAIL TALES, listener submissions. 💜💙💚❤💛

I Love These Ladies

This is the second podcast I have found that I can get into. I am an avid crafter and NPAD has become my go to while crafting. I just discovered this podcast and am only on episode 8 but I am hooked. Even my not interested in anything my mom is doing 13 year old sits and listens. I really like how long the episodes are and how the stories are told. I like that personal opinions and stories are shared as well. I also appreciate the realness from the hosts. Your opinions and the swearing make me feel like we are friends just sitting down for some girl time. It’s also funny hearing your pronunciation of some of the towns in the PNW. Born and raised here and I’ll be honest I struggle sometimes with names lol.

Love this!

I found this podcast last fall and have finally made it through all their episodes. I love the variety of stories they tell, from survival, to murder, to accidents and more. National Parks have so many stories to them and it is great to be able to hear a variety of stories from parks all over the world. The hosts do a great job of researching the topics and presenting it in a clear logical way. I also like that they state their sources so I can add more books to my audible wish list.

Great Stories, Well Written
