Join us for a particularly exciting and crazy episode, in which we had the chance to host Stu, a local New Zealand Jew with a life's work in the global music industry. Stu was the global sales and marketing director of the BMG record company, which was considered one of the five largest record companies and owned about 20 percent of the music industry! We sat with Stu in his amazing house, in a room full of records and CDs and posters on the walls. We browsed and talked a lot about his life story, how he became a sales manager at Unilever, to the global sales manager of one of the largest record companies in the world. In our conversation, we talked about the way the industry used to work, about how bands are sold and marketed to continents like Asia, Australia, and even Israel. The episode has a new guest joining us! Ben Goldstein is an Australian-Israeli musician, the lead singer of the successful Australian brass band "Hot Potato Band". Ben may be familiar to you because he participated in the Israeli "X Factor" and also in the Australian "The Voice" . After Idan supported Ben and his band, Ben invited us to stay at his home in Coogee Beach, Sydney. We talked with Ben about his development as a musician, the differences he personally experiences between the music industry in Israel and the industry in Australia, reality TV and the contracts included in it, his work as a producer and writer of "topline" for companies like Artlist and in general about his perspective on the journey of an independent musician on the road.
