• Utah Judge Denies Bail for Children’s Author Accused of Killing Husband with Fentanyl
    Nov 14 2024
Kouri Richins, a Utah children's book author accused of fatally poisoning her husband with fentanyl in 2022, will remain behind bars after a judge denied her bail request. Richins, who wrote a book on coping with grief called *Are You With Me?* following her husband’s death, faces charges of aggravated murder and attempted murder.

During a hearing in Utah’s 3rd District Court, Judge Richard Mrazik outlined his reasons for rejecting Richins' bond request. “There simply are not reasonably available means of mitigating her risk to the community and to herself or the strong incentive for her to flee the jurisdiction of the court,” Mrazik said. He emphasized the severity of the charges and her diminished ties to the community as critical factors in his decision.

Prosecutors accuse Richins of spiking a cocktail she made for her husband, Eric Richins, with a lethal dose of fentanyl. They also claim she attempted to kill him previously, on February 14, 2022, by giving him a drugged sandwich. Eric Richins, a father of three, died at their home near Park City, a small mountain town known for its scenic beauty.

Richins was arrested in 2023, just a year after her husband's death, and gained further attention for her public appearances discussing her family’s grief. Her book, marketed to help children deal with the loss of a loved one, has become a focal point in media coverage of the case.

The defense team, led by attorney Kathy Nester, argued that the case against Richins is weakening. “With two charges dismissed and four others severed, the defense stands more confident. The case against our client is rapidly narrowing, exposing deeper weaknesses with each step,” Nester said.

Judge Mrazik dismissed two counts of distributing a controlled substance and agreed to separate four real estate-related fraud charges from the upcoming murder trial. However, he denied a motion from the defense to try the murder and attempted murder charges separately. The judge also refused a motion to increase the jury size from the standard eight to twelve members. Despite acknowledging that Utah’s law “may be on the wrong side of history,” Mrazik said he is bound by his oath to uphold it.

The trial, set to begin in April 2025, will cover multiple charges, including aggravated murder, attempted murder, two counts of filing fraudulent insurance claims, and one count of forgery. To ensure a fair jury pool, both the prosecution and defense agreed to select jurors from a broader geographic area, spanning Salt Lake and Summit Counties.

Richins' defense team emphasized her connections to the area and disputed the notion that she poses a flight risk. However, Judge Mrazik pointed to several concerns, including her loss of business and strained relationship with her children, which he said could increase her motivation to flee.

"Structurally, she just doesn't have the same connections to the community that she had then," the judge concluded. Richins remains in custody, awaiting her day in court, as both sides prepare for what promises to be a closely watched trial.

  • Sean "Diddy" Combs Denies Allegations of Minors at Infamous Party, Calls Claims ‘Pure Fiction’
    Nov 14 2024
Sean “Diddy” Combs has firmly denied allegations that minors were present at one of his notorious “freak-off” parties, calling the claims baseless and part of a growing campaign of false accusations against him.

The latest allegations emerged after Tanea Wallace appeared in the documentary *The Downfall of Diddy: Inside the Freak Offs*, where she recounted attending one of the music mogul’s parties in 2018. According to Wallace, the event continued into the early hours, featuring intoxicated guests engaged in sexual activities, allegedly in the presence of minors.

Combs’ representatives swiftly responded to Wallace’s statements, firmly rejecting the accusations. “Ms. Tanea Wallace has no credibility, and her claims about ‘freak offs’ and minors are completely and categorically false,” read a statement released on Combs’ behalf. “As we’ve said before, Mr. Combs cannot respond to every new publicity stunt, even in response to claims that are facially ridiculous. Mr. Combs has full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that the accusations against Mr. Combs are pure fiction.”

The denial from Combs comes at a time when the music producer and rapper is under intense legal scrutiny. Federal investigations are probing his alleged involvement in sex trafficking and racketeering activities. Some speculate that the notorious parties were part of a larger illegal operation, which is now being examined in court. Despite the gravity of these accusations, Combs’ legal team remains adamant that their client will be exonerated.

“These latest claims are just another example of the baseless attacks being made against Mr. Combs,” his defense team reiterated, emphasizing their confidence in a legal victory.

Currently, Combs is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as he awaits trial on federal charges. His bail request was denied in September, with the court rejecting a proposed $50 million bond package. Besides facing criminal charges, Combs is also confronting numerous civil suits, with over 100 victims accusing him of sexual assault.

As his case unfolds, Combs’ public image continues to be scrutinized and challenged. However, his defense remains steadfast, expressing faith in the judicial process and the eventual vindication of their client. “Mr. Combs will fight these allegations, and in the end, the truth will speak louder than the sensationalized headlines,” a spokesperson concluded.

  • Milwaukee Father Arrested for Allegedly Throwing Baby at Wall Over Video Game Loss
    Nov 13 2024
A Milwaukee man has been arrested on serious charges of child abuse after he allegedly threw his 8-month-old son at a wall in frustration over a video game. Jalin White, 20, was taken into custody following the incident, which has left the infant with life-threatening injuries.

Police responded to a report of possible child abuse at a local hospital, where they discovered the infant with a skull fracture, broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and various injuries at different stages of healing. This pattern suggested to investigators that the child may have suffered repeated abuse over time.

According to authorities, White had been entrusted with the care of his son while the child’s mother was out. Reports from local outlets CBS 58, FOX 6, and WISN cite a criminal complaint in which White initially provided investigators with conflicting stories. At one point, he allegedly attempted to blame the child’s mother, but his explanations were determined to be false.

The complaint states that White eventually admitted to throwing his son in anger while he was playing NBA 2K. He reportedly became frustrated when he was losing a close game. “He hit his head hard on the wall, bro,” White is quoted as saying in his alleged confession. “I heard the impact of the wall after I tossed him.”

The gravity of the baby’s injuries is severe. Medical scans revealed the extent of the damage, including signs of previous trauma. Authorities reported that the child is not expected to survive, and if he succumbs to his injuries, White’s charges will likely be upgraded to include homicide.

Milwaukee County Jail records show White is being held on a $100,000 bond. As of now, it is unclear whether he has entered any pleas or secured an attorney.

For those following crime stories, the public is urged to stay informed about ongoing developments. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.

  • No Charges in Ellen Greenberg’s Death Despite 20 Stab Wounds, DA Rules
    Nov 13 2024
Prosecutors in Philadelphia have dealt another setback to the family of Ellen Greenberg, a young teacher whose mysterious 2011 death was controversially ruled a suicide despite more than 20 stab wounds. The Chester County District Attorney’s Office has now concluded that there is insufficient evidence to bring criminal charges. Ellen Greenberg, 27, was discovered dead in her apartment on January 26, 2011. Her fiancé, Samuel Goldberg, found her slumped against kitchen cabinets with a knife embedded in her chest. The scene was deeply unsettling: the beloved elementary school teacher had suffered 20 stab wounds, including gashes to her back, neck, and head. Initially, Philadelphia Medical Examiner Marlon Osbourne ruled Greenberg’s death a homicide. However, the police quickly challenged this, and the classification was changed to suicide without a clear explanation, sparking outrage and confusion among those closest to her. For the past 13 years, Joshua and Sandra Greenberg, Ellen’s parents, have waged a relentless campaign for justice, pushing authorities to reconsider the circumstances of their daughter’s violent death. This week, however, the Chester County District Attorney’s Office announced that it could not pursue criminal charges. The office, which began reviewing the case in 2022, stated it could not meet the legal burden of proving a crime beyond a reasonable doubt. “This standard of proof – beyond a reasonable doubt – makes the criminal investigation different than other legal cases or issues that surround Ms. Greenberg’s death,” a spokesperson explained. “Because we cannot meet our burden of proof with the information and evidence presently available, we placed this investigation in an inactive status.” Despite the setback, the DA’s office emphasized that the case could be reopened if new evidence comes to light, as there is no statute of limitations for homicide in Pennsylvania. Greenberg’s family expressed disappointment but remained steadfast in their belief that Ellen was murdered. “Our conviction about Ellen having been murdered does not change due to the announcement by the Chester County District Attorney’s Office,” said the family’s attorney, Joseph Podraza Jr., in a statement to NBC Philadelphia. He criticized the DA’s investigation, stating, “The office did not investigate the core issues which we have raised, which establish Ellen was murdered, and that evidence remains unchallenged.” Podraza also highlighted that a former Philadelphia homicide prosecutor, who conducted an independent review of the case, concluded Ellen’s death was indeed a murder. “We now look forward to an upcoming trial where a full and forthright examination of the core issues surrounding Ellen’s murder may be publicly conducted before an independent Judge and jury of our peers,” he added. Earlier this year, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court agreed to consider the family’s case. The court will address whether executors and administrators have the right to challenge a death certificate’s finding, especially if it obstructs legal actions such as wrongful death claims or victim compensation. Additionally, the Greenbergs have filed civil lawsuits over the years, targeting officials in the medical examiner’s office, the police department, and the DA’s office, arguing that their daughter’s case was mishandled. As the legal battle continues, Ellen’s parents hold out hope that new developments will finally bring them the answers and accountability they seek. ### #EllenGreenberg #JusticeForEllen #Philadelphia #UnsolvedMystery #ChesterCountyDA #TrueCrime #PennsylvaniaJustice Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? • Delphi Murders: Richard Allen Convicted in Gruesome 2017 Slayings of Teen Girls
    Nov 12 2024
Richard Allen, 52, has been found guilty of the brutal murders of Liberty “Libby” German, 14, and Abigail “Abby” Williams, 13, in Delphi, Indiana. The verdict, delivered on November 11, 2024, comes nearly eight years after the teens' bodies were discovered following their disappearance on February 13, 2017.

Jurors convicted Allen on two counts of murder and two additional counts of felony murder while committing or attempting to commit kidnapping after just four days of deliberations in a three-week trial at the Carroll County Courthouse. The case had captivated the nation due to chilling evidence, including a cell phone video recorded by German moments before her death.

“This case has weighed heavily on the community for years,” said Carroll County Prosecutor Nicholas McLeland during closing arguments. “The State has shown that Richard Allen is Bridge Guy.” The reference was to the video footage taken by German, where a man can be heard instructing the girls, “Guys, down the hill.” The clip had been instrumental in sustaining public interest and in the eventual arrest of Allen, a former CVS pharmacy tech.

The trial's emotional weight was matched by the complexity of the evidence presented. A key component was a .40 caliber bullet found at the crime scene, later linked to a gun discovered in Allen’s home. Although Allen had confessed multiple times to killing the girls, defense attorneys argued that these admissions were coerced after months of harsh treatment and solitary confinement in prison. They contended that Allen’s mental state was severely compromised.

“Richard Allen is innocent,” defense attorney Brad Rozzi maintained. “The pressure to solve this horrific case led to the State retrofitting evidence to make him look guilty.”

Allen's defense had also pushed an alternate theory that an Odinist cult was responsible for the murders, citing sticks arranged in ritualistic patterns around the bodies. They claimed Abby Williams’ clothes were used to dress Libby German, further suggesting ritualistic intent. However, Judge Fran Gull ruled that there was insufficient admissible evidence to support this theory, barring it from the trial.

Throughout the trial, forensic evidence painted a harrowing picture. Blood spatter expert Patrick Cicero testified that Libby German likely survived for some time after her throat was cut before being dragged back to the scene where both victims were found. However, forensic pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr indicated there was no conclusive evidence of sexual assault, despite the gruesome nature of the crime.

Allen’s defense was further complicated by procedural missteps. The prosecution admitted to losing 70 days' worth of police interviews, including discussions with potential alternate suspects. The judge admonished Allen’s attorneys for accidentally leaking sealed evidence, although they were later reinstated.

Despite the challenges, prosecutors emphasized Allen's own recorded words, including a conversation with his wife in which he stated, “I did it. I killed Abby and Libby.” The jury’s decision marks a long-awaited conclusion to one of Indiana’s most haunting murder mysteries, but questions about the investigation's handling still linger.

Allen is set to be sentenced on December 20, 2024, and faces a maximum of 130 years in prison.

  • Criminal Probe Delays Ethics Hearing on Becky Hill’s Alleged Misconduct in Murdaugh Trial
    Nov 12 2024
A highly anticipated ethics hearing into Becky Hill, the former Colleton County clerk of court who gained national attention during Alex Murdaugh's murder trial, has been postponed indefinitely due to a pending criminal investigation. The S.C. Ethics Commission, which had scheduled the hearing for Dec. 19, cited the investigation by the South Carolina Attorney General's office as the reason for the delay. The ethics hearing was expected to shed light on 76 alleged violations, which the commission had found probable cause for in May. These include accusations that Hill misused her position for personal gain and to promote her book about the Murdaugh trial, "Behind the Doors of Justice." Hill’s legal team requested a postponement in light of the investigation, and commission staff did not object. The Attorney General’s office and the Ethics Commission declined to comment. A legal source familiar with the Ethics Commission explained that pausing proceedings during a criminal probe is standard practice. “It prevents an accused official from having to give up their right against self-incrimination in an ethics hearing while potentially wanting to invoke it during a criminal investigation,” the source said. Hill resigned from her $101,256-a-year position in March, several months after releasing her book, which provided a behind-the-scenes look at Murdaugh's six-week trial. In February 2023, Alex Murdaugh was convicted of murdering his wife, Maggie, and son Paul, and is now serving two life sentences. The ethics charges against Hill include multiple instances of alleged self-enrichment. In September 2022 and March 2023, she purportedly awarded herself $2,500 bonuses. Hill is also accused of negotiating with a media company to use the Colleton County courthouse in exchange for promoting her book. Additional accusations involve misusing county funds to buy office decorations, gifts, and meals for courthouse staff and directing payments to a company with which she had a business relationship. Hill's conduct during the Murdaugh trial has also come under fire. Murdaugh’s lawyers, Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin, have claimed Hill tried to influence the jury to reach a quick guilty verdict, allegedly to boost her book sales. While Hill denied these allegations, they led to a court hearing in which Circuit Judge Jean Toal determined that, although Hill’s comments to jurors were improper, there wasn't enough evidence to prove they affected the verdict. Hill's reputation took another hit last December when she admitted to plagiarizing parts of her book from an unpublished BBC report on the Murdaugh case. The book was subsequently pulled from publication, and Hill’s co-author denied any knowledge of the plagiarism, which, although not a crime, is widely regarded as a severe breach in the literary community. Despite these controversies, Hill had initially emerged from Murdaugh’s trial as a helpful, well-regarded presence. Even South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, who attended the trial, publicly praised her, affectionately calling her “Becky Boo.” Due to Wilson’s ties to Hill, Rick Hubbard, the 11th Judicial Circuit Solicitor, and his deputy Suzanne Mayes were assigned to assist in the case, though Wilson’s office maintains oversight. Hill's legal and ethical troubles have tarnished her once-strong reputation. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division confirmed it is investigating allegations of jury tampering and misuse of office. With the ongoing criminal investigation, the postponed ethics hearing marks another twist in the complex saga surrounding Becky Hill’s role in one of the most high-profile murder trials in recent history. **#BeckyHill #AlexMurdaugh #MurdaughTrial #SCPolitics #LegalNews #EthicsInvestigation #SCAttorneyGeneral** Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? • Sean "Diddy" Combs’ Children Stand United Amid Legal Battles
    Nov 11 2024
Sean "Diddy" Combs’ children are showing support for their father as he remains in jail facing serious legal accusations. His son, Christian "King" Combs, took over Diddy’s Instagram account to mark the music mogul’s 55th birthday, celebrating his father’s legacy and spreading positivity. "Sup y’all, it’s King Combs and right now I’m taking over my pops’ Instagram," King said in a video posted on November 6. "We’re gonna be posting videos by spreading good energy and taking y’all down memory lane of all the positive things he did. So stay tuned, and watch this." King shared the takeover to honor Diddy’s November 4 birthday. "We love you, pops," he added. "Happy Birthday." Diddy’s other children also came together to celebrate their father. In a heartwarming family moment shared on November 5, all seven of Diddy’s kids—including those he shares with Kim Porter, Misa Hylton, Sarah Chapman, and Dana Tran—appeared united. His youngest child, Love, just 22 months old, even sang "Happy Birthday to daddy" before blowing out candles on a cake. "Made my day," Diddy could be heard saying over the phone. The family has faced an emotional and challenging time since Diddy’s arrest on September 16. He is awaiting trial on federal charges related to sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. The accusations include claims of sexual assault from more than two dozen alleged victims, all of which Diddy has denied, pleading not guilty. In an October 22 joint statement, Diddy’s seven children defended their father, expressing the emotional toll the situation has had on them. "The past month has devastated our family," they wrote on Instagram. "Many have judged both him and us based on accusations, conspiracy theories, and false narratives that have spiraled into absurdity on social media. We stand united, supporting you every step of the way. We hold onto the truth, knowing it will prevail, and nothing will break the strength of our family. WE MISS YOU & LOVE YOU DAD." Diddy’s legal troubles deepened with a series of lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct. Despite these accusations, he has remained adamant about his innocence. "Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday," he said in a December Instagram statement. "Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family, and for the truth." Federal agents executed search warrants at Diddy’s Los Angeles and Miami properties on March 25. Sources confirmed to NBC News that the warrants were part of an investigation led by Homeland Security Investigations out of the Southern District of New York. The raids drew sharp criticism from Diddy’s attorney, Aaron Dyer, who condemned the authorities’ tactics. "Yesterday, there was a gross overuse of military-level force as search warrants were executed at Mr. Combs' residences," Dyer said in a March 26 statement. "There is no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility exhibited by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated." Dyer stressed that Diddy was cooperative with authorities and had not been detained. "Despite media speculation, neither Mr. Combs nor any of his family members have been arrested nor has their ability to travel been restricted in any way," he explained. "This unprecedented ambush—paired with an advanced, coordinated media presence—leads to a premature rush to judgment of Mr. Combs and is nothing more than a witch hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits." Dyer affirmed Diddy’s determination to clear his name, stating, "There has been no finding of criminal or civil liability with any of these allegations. Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name." Diddy’s family remains a pillar of support as the legal battle unfolds, emphasizing unity and resilience in the face of widespread public scrutiny. #SeanDiddyCombs #KingCombs #FamilySupport #LegalBattle #InnocentUntilProvenGuilty #MusicMogul #UnitedFamily Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? • Adam Fravel Found Guilty of Murdering Madeline Kingsbury
    Nov 11 2024
In a trial that gripped national attention, Adam Fravel has been convicted on four counts for the murder of Madeline Kingsbury, the mother of his two children. The three-week trial concluded with a packed courtroom in Mankato as the jury foreperson read the guilty verdicts.

The case, which was relocated from Winona due to widespread public interest, has stirred emotions in both the Kingsbury and Fravel families. The jury found Fravel guilty of premeditated first-degree murder, first-degree murder with a past pattern of domestic abuse, second-degree murder with intent, and second-degree murder while committing a felony.

Madeline Kingsbury, 26, disappeared at the end of March 2023, leading to a large-scale search that lasted four months. Her body was eventually discovered in a culvert near Fravel’s parents' home in Fillmore County, southeast Minnesota. This discovery prompted Fravel’s arrest and set the stage for an emotional trial.

David Kingsbury, Madeline’s father, addressed reporters outside the courthouse after the verdict. “Fravel can’t be punished enough,” he said. “We’ve lost a daughter, mother, aunt, sister. Children are scarred ... not just Eliana and Noah, but the children in our extended family wonder why. His life is wasted, ruin and devastation to two families. There’s no joy here, but we’re glad at the result.” His words highlighted the pain the Kingsbury family continues to endure, even as they feel a sense of relief from the guilty verdict.

Members of both families were present for the reading of the verdict, and the atmosphere in the courtroom was tense. Some relatives from Fravel’s side broke into tears as the reality of the conviction sank in, emphasizing the deep and enduring emotional impact of the case.

Winona Police Chief Tom Williams, who played a crucial role in the search for Kingsbury, also shared his thoughts following the trial. “To say that this was a huge undertaking would be a great understatement,” Williams noted. “The number of man hours that went into this by law enforcement from many different counties, state agencies and we cannot be forgetful of the number of citizens that also stepped up to the plate to help us with this investigation.”

The Kingsbury family’s pain remains fresh, but they acknowledge the tireless efforts of law enforcement and community members who assisted in the months-long search. The conviction marks a significant step in their journey toward closure, though the emotional scars are still raw.

Adam Fravel will face sentencing on December 17 in Winona, where he could receive a life sentence for his crimes. As the legal process nears its conclusion, both families must confront the aftermath of the tragedy that has devastated their lives.
