But we cannot sit idly by contributing no voice and then complain about the results. “Regardless the nature, substance or victim of the addiction, leadership and addiction are a dangerous mix. Addiction will modify behavior, emotion, values, priorities and thought processes. When a leader succumbs to addiction, the rational, wit and wisdom which may have advanced their career thus far, become the tools of the addiction itself. A cleaver and persuasive leader will deploy those skills to feeding their addiction. The leader who is compassionate, caring and beloved will deploy those skills to feed their addiction. A person who has learned techniques to get their way, gain buy in and win the over will of others tragically become a slave to their addiction and a tyrant to those who trust them to lead.”

Do your homework and prepare your plan. Know what you need and what you plan to do with it. How can you help? What do you offer as a solution? How will the investment you are seeking going to be applied to the solution you are offering? As you gather support, team members, finances, plan to execute your strategies be specific as to the application. Know your numbers from the overall grand vision to the day to day details.
