  • Lord, to whom shall we go?
    Aug 26 2024

According to C. S. Lewis, having faith is a commitment to and trust in Christian teachings in the face of daily distractions and doubts. Let this Gospel reading today remind you to commit yourself again and again when you come to Mass and receive a very tangible thing: the Lord’s body, blood, soul, and divinity in your hand and on your tongue. Nowhere else outside of the Catholic Church can this food be found, and with that recognition, we say, “Lord, to whom shall we go?”

  • Jesus: Real Food for Real Life
    Aug 19 2024

Do you know the most common time for a person who prays to stop praying? It’s when they sense God asking them to change or let something go. But every great love requires at some point a willingness to say 'no' to what we want in order to say 'yes' to what love demands. If you’re finding yourself restless, fearful, stuck, or directionless, come to Communion. Open the doors of your heart to Jesus and let Him into those frustrated places inside. And then – listen, and do whatever he tells you.

  • Resisting the idolatry of the crowd
    Jul 29 2024

Our hunger for transcendent purpose is meant to connect us with God, THE source of meaning, power, and purpose who unites all things. But if God gets relegated to the margins of our lives, it’s easy for idols to take His place - idols that initially offer a sense of connection but in the end destroy us. Think about that as we enter the heart of election season, wherever you are on the political spectrum. Who are our hearts given to: the "right" crowd, party, or politician, or to Jesus?

  • I AM your company and others' you are
    Jul 22 2024

God is not far from us - He is always by our side, journeying along with us and accompanying us. “When two or three gather in my name, I am in their midst" (Mt 18:20), Jesus says. He is inviting us to help others experience Him through our accompaniment. And as the world is increasingly becoming individualistic, the need to accompany one another is most needed now more than ever. We are called to be a source of comfort, consoling, a helping hand to those who are alone in our midst.

  • "Outside the Church, there is no salvation" (!) (???)
    Jul 15 2024

Each of you is Church, bona fide members of the Body of Christ, in whom Jesus lives and interacts with the world. Your relationships are potential vehicles of grace, windows through which God’s love can reach through and touch those who don’t know Him. Think about that when you’re online, or about to get into a political debate, or you run into that annoying neighbor. Your words, your thoughtfulness, your willingness to befriend, can be sacraments of the saving love of God Himself.
