We say roughly because although there are five so-called "canonical" victims of The Ripper, he was suspected of committing even more of these heinous crimes. As the brutality of Jack's crimes increased, more pressure was placed on the police to capture him. But despite the efforts of law enforcement, Jack The Ripper was never caught. Over the years, Jack The Ripper has captured the imagination of the public, and many theories about his identity have been brought forth. And with this fascination, commercialization was bound to follow. Numerous books, plays, comic books, films, TV shows, musicals, pop music, video games, and even tourist attractions, have taken advantage of The Ripper's legacy.
