It Was a Thing on TV: An Anthology on Forgotten Television

By: Mike Klauss Chico Alexander and Greg Diener
  • Summary

  • Partially an oral history of obscure TV shows, partially an oral version of MST3K, and partially a thorough episode guide, It Was a Thing on TV is an anthology podcast about obscure, forgotten, and odd TV shows, commercials, televised events, and almost anyone and anything else that was on television. For the most part, the subjects we cover are from the United States and Canada. We’re just three guys with a love for television. New episodes are generally every Monday and Thursday, sometimes more often.

Episodes
  • Episode 481--We The People 200: The Constitution Parade
    Jul 3 2024

Every year when we celebrate the United States' birthday, we offer up a patriotic show. This Independence Day is no different, except the event covered in this episode happened in September 1987, to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution. This parade didn't offer much in terms of celebrities, but it gave viewers a look at how things were done in 1787.

  • It Was a Thing on TV Delayed Reaction--Guillermo Rodriguez on Celebrity Name Game
    Jun 29 2024

Mike shared a little nugget with the other guys earlier this week. That message became the seed of this Delayed Reaction, reacting to events which happened close to a decade ago. Dynasty? Really?

  • Episode 480--Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place, the two seasons with the titular pizza place

Under normal circumstances, a popular show which lasted 4 seasons would not be fodder for this podcast. For our Marvel shows leading up to the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, we're making an exception. Anyway, we think the show got worse once the pizza place part of the premise was abandoned. Just to reiterate, this is only about the first 2 seasons with the pizza place.
