How can organisations navigate the huge wellbeing market?

  • Summary

  • In our third episode we ask two wellbeing leaders how to separate the wheat from the chaff in the crowded marketplace of wellbeing apps and tools.

There are thousands of wellbeing tools out there. Which is good, right? Not long ago it was a very niche market, but now it is thriving. But there is a drawback: the volume of choice makes it hard to choose a product and know whether it can be effectively applied in your organisation.

Almost a million digital health apps were released as the pandemic took hold in 2020. The total figure now sits at more than 350,000, according to IQVIA, many of which are focused on wellbeing and mental health. To find out where to start, and how to make the choice, we invited two award-winning experts to guide us: wellbeing and mental health consultant and strategist Amy McKeown, and bestselling HR author Gethin Nadin, who is chief innovation officer at Zellis.

Other discussion points in the podcast include:

    • What can organisations do to ensure they choose the most effective benefits for their employees?
    • Tech development can outpace science – so how can organisations get evidence of efficacy? Are some apps overplaying their effectiveness?
    • How can organisations prioritise the kind of conditions and problems that their employees need help with? How useful are employee surveys?
