    Brian spent his childhood on a farm in country South Australia. It was marginal country, so life could be hard. His farther had a stroke when Brian was just fourteen. He left the farm to work in mines and trans-shipping. Later Brian developed to dismantling bridges, working on building sites, furnaces, windmills and bores and even aerial spraying. In a great work transformation, he became a nurse in hospitals and jails. He has a remarkable depth of compassion and understanding. He has been married to Cathy for over forty years.

    Debra moved to Adelaide with her family when Deb was seven. She had a special talent in highland dancing and travelled to Canada to participate in a national exhibition. This was followed by another tour when she was 14, and travelled to Scotland two years later for yet another exhibition. Over the years she has travelled extensively. She has worked in developing the skills of people and organisations - computing, team leadership and positive psychology and describes herself as a raging, extreme optimist.

    Max also loved cricket. He played for Port Adelaide for 14 years, 10 in A grade. He was best known as a cricket umpire, officiating on more than 430 games on over 27 years. This included the famous 1977 Centenary Test Match against England at the MCG. He has also umpired several social and charity matches as a volunteer.
