Gina Gardiner & Friends with Anneli Blundell

  • Summary

  • Anneli Blundell BIO and LINK

Anneli Blundell is different. She talks to strangers for fun, loves to haggle for a bargain and isn’t afraid to tell people they have food in their teeth. But, then again, she’s obsessed with conversation and connection, so it’s to be expected, right? She also knows that not everyone wants to dive head first into awkward conversations. But she definitely does. It’s her job and her passion.

For almost 20 years she’s been fascinated with who speaks up at work, who doesn’t and why? And more importantly, does the conversational culture at work, make people feel seen, heard and valued, when they do?

Anneli didn't start out with conversational courage. Starting her corporate career in the finance sector as a young woman (with an unimposing height of 5’2”), speaking up, being heard, and cutting through was a journey for her, as it is for most people.

She’s no stranger to the fear of speaking up on the spot (cue nervous sweats), of tossing unpopular ideas into the mix (hello, crickets!) or challenging difficult behaviours (No. Honesty is not a reason for rudeness). It’s not easy. But, it’s also not impossible.

As an expert in Communication Dynamics, Anneli now helps people get heard at work. Whether it’s being heard by the Board or the boss, getting through to other colleagues, speaking up in meetings or discussing tricky topics, this is about building conversational cultures where people feel seen, heard and valued at work. Affectionately known as the People Whisperer, Anneli is an award-winning professional, sought-after for her keynotes, workshops and executive coaching that humanize the leadership landscape and build connection and conversation at work. She’s also the author of books including, ‘The Gender Penalty: Turning obstacles into opportunities for women at work’ and the pocketbook, ‘When men lead women: Navigating facts, fears and frustrations of gender equality as a male leader.’

Oh and she’s a nifty parallel parker, a keen hiker and a salsa dancing addict who loves any meal cooked by someone else!
