  • Interview with artist Juan Manuel Romero. How does that bastard draw so well?
    Apr 12 2024

I share my heartfelt interview with the multidisciplinary Argentinian artist Juan Manel Romero who reached out to us at 19Karen following his hiatus from painting in 2020. Like many creatives, post 2020 has been a transformative time for Juan, one of re-evaluation and reflection, of personal challenge and reacquaintance both with his creative roots and his creative motivations. Best of all, the enigmatic power of art brings Juan and I to tears when talking about one of his paintings I sold to a client…

  • 19Karen Opening night (Glendon Cordell)
    Mar 27 2024

In episode 3 I throw caution to the wind and delay my scheduled chat with Argentinian artist Juan Manuel Romero to share the recent raw and real audio from the opening address at 19Karen's first exhibition of the year held on March 16, featuring Australian landscape artist Glendon Cordell along with a string of other talented artists from near and far.

Which is more important - artistic merit or being able to market it?

After acquainting myself with the often-bizarre theatrics of Warhols persona, I discovered a third facet to Andy that I hadn't properly considered.

  • What is an artist?
    Feb 22 2024

There are many ways to contemplate art and its role in society. For some, it's a source of income; for others, a hobby; for many, it’s a necessity - not unlike breathing air. For others again, their interaction with art is a form of voyeurism. They don’t actively participate but they sure as hell like to watch.

In today's episode, I take you on a cook's tour of the story of my own personal experiences with art and my dissemination of it.

Whatever your position, art is a dietary staple transcending culture, age and gender. Art in all its forms is everywhere. It interplays with our existence like a mirror, showing us both the beautiful truth of ourselves and what parts of humanity could use a little adjustment.

In this episode, we explore the question: "What is art?"
