  • On 14 April 2022, the British government made the controversial announcement that refugees arriving in the UK via the English Channel would be transferred to Rwanda for their asylum applications to be processed. In this episode, Ronahi Hasan interviews Alaa Habs, a refugee who fled war-torn Syrian to seek sanctuary in the UK after making the perilous journey across the English Channel. At the time of recording, Alaa was in a detention centre, awaiting his fate. Since released, he still awaits confirmation on his refugee status from the Home Office.
