    Buchanan, not to be confused with the 15th US President, received the 1986 Nobel Prize in Economics for his work on public choice theory, particularly the notion that people everywhere, including those in government and not just those in the private sector, act in accordance with individual incentives more than they do in some idealized "public interest".
    Ideas worth spreading indeed.
