• Remembering Me
    Feb 26 2023

I recorded that episode a month ago and as I listened to it, I remembered why I recorded it. I wanted to make another attempt at podcasting.  There has always been a reason for stopping and starting this project. Simply, being scared of what speaking my whole mind may do to my professional career. In high profile positions and making very good money, you have to be careful about what you say in public. Knowing that I do not have financial back up, a sponsor or sugar daddy, I had to be careful. So, I would only say 1/2 of what I thought. Those who know me know I speak my mind and talk a lot of "shit" when I am in my zone. I would go really hard then erase or not publish the episode. It did not feel authentic or real. Today and now, I am saying fuck it. You will soon understand why I wanted to do the Emotionally Yours Podcast.

    Emotionally yours, April

  • Live, Love, Laugh and not in that order
    Aug 27 2022

Today, Bridgette and I did a pop up at The Beanhead Brothers Coffee House @ 2495 Romig Rd, Akron, OH to do this episode of Emotionally Yours Podcast. She is a young lady that I call a friend after learning that we have similar styles, backgrounds and statuses in life. We take the moment to talk about living, loving and laughing. It seems that all conversations always reverted back to loving. Relationships, situations and entanglements are an essential part of life. We think when you allow black women to talk about that subject ain't no telling where the conversation goes.

Offered commentary on the unsolved “murder” of Kendrick Johnson. A 17yo black male whose death was ruled an accident. In 2013, I recalled this story and wanted to share my thoughts. When all the other names were mentioned when talking about police brutality. Kendrick’s name was not and should have been but because his case was ruled an accident no one was left accountable. Please watch “ Finding Kendrick Johnson.” You may determine that the murder of Kendrick Johnson was a cover up. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mpcceyp/message

  • Discussion w/ Dr. Jowanda Rollins-Fells about her "Open Heart Letter"
    Feb 5 2021

    Dear Listener,

Each episode is researched and encoded with you in mind. My hope is that you find each episode relevant and timely. This episode took on a life of its own when I reached out to Dr. Jowanda Rollins-Fells to get permission to read her letter and she offered to come on the show and read it to us. The "Open Heart Letter" speaks to what the Emotionally Yours Podcast is all about.

After resigning from FedEx Custom Critical in 2005, I started over. With 3 kids, a marriage/divorce and on welfare, I travelled through many crevices of life, some by choice and others by chance. Everywhere I went there was something new to see and an experience I will never forget. Lessons learned were that life happens, faith/hope was burdensome, everyone has a story and their truth matters. Black community our truth matters, no matter how dark, lowly or high. It's truth telling time!

The Emotionally Yours Podcast intends to destigmatize Black Mental Health and promote mental wellness in the black community. Fear of speaking our truth is no longer an option. Getting to our best self, requires us to block out the white noise and identify our emotional needs. Hopefully, this podcast will have you to consider what needs to change in your life and in our community. Let's agree to "level up" and "lift up."

    Until next time....

    Emotionally yours, April
