Coach Steve starts this episode with a deep reflection from his amazing FIVE-DAY Wilderness Experience in Yosemite. The idea is to capture how nature symbolizes something in our personal and professional life that we are also embarking on. Today, we're going to unpack what that looks with this episode on "TREES".

Trees symbolize aspiration and potential. They also show resilience and endurance. They withstand different season and harsh conditions.

    LISTEN FOR THESE MOMENTS:

"Trees represent connection and community. They have this interconnectedness with the roots forming this unseen network beneath the ground. This symbolizes relationships, family and the importance of community support. Trees also symbolize life and renewal. They undergo cycles of shedding leaves and regrowing themselves."

  • Start a Business with Duct Tape and Sandbags | EVERYDAY HEROES with Manuel Flores
    Oct 24 2024

Ask yourself this question: WHY NOT ME?

Welcome to the Elevate Up Leadership Coaching Podcast and a deep-dive episode in our "EVERYDAY HEROES" series with your Host, your Coach, and "The Sherpa" Steve Seay!

Coach Steve's guest today is Manuel Flores. He is a part-time Respiratory Therapist and part-time Personal Trainer of his own company (On the Clock Fitness). Manuel was an only child from the Mojave Desert surrounded by a large Hispanic family, but he looked into the beautiful desert horizon and always knew there was more of him elsewhere. Traveling and living in multiple cities until he settled in Roseville, California. It was here where he began working full time in retail and going to school full time to pursue a dream and eventually becoming a respiratory therapist. Living in Roseville he and his wife (at the time) raised a beautiful family of 3 kids. Unfortunately going through divorce and raising 3 kids on his own had struggles of its own. But he pressed on, knowing there was more for him. His passion for exercise and coaching his kid’s sports pulled him in a direction he never knew. He became a personal trainer. Having his own idea of a business plan he decided to start his own training business called On the Clock Fitness (OTC). He is now working part time as a trainer and part time as a Respiratory therapist and married to his lovely wife and best friend Christina. Between the two of them having 5 kids, now mostly grown and starting families of their own. Now life continues on, and he loves the life he and Christina have built and continue to grow

LISTEN FOR THIS MOMENT: "I think it's really important to have routines. Having routines is the foundation of freedom. When you don't have those routines, your life can be in chaos. And having those set routines that you live by daily, it just helps kind of helps hone things in a little bit better. For me, it's simple. Starting the day out making my bed is probably one of the biggest habits that I do every morning. Then, I always get into a workout first thing in the morning. I love getting the blood pumping first thing."
