Rachel encounters the first signs of plague when she pays a visit to her friend’s household and what the current remedies are for avoiding it. Elouan tries convincing Giovanni in keeping his family away from the city to avoid the eruption of illness; however, a party being held at the duke’s manor requires his parents’ attendance. Giovanni and Elouan tag along, but Elouan must defend himself for his actions with the traveling priests – as well as explain to Rachel how he knew about her deceased mother. Meanwhile, the devastating effects of the illness dramatically reveal itself.
