  • Getting Older and Aging Gracefully ft. Dr. Chris Motley
    Aug 29 2024

This week Sara sits down with Chinese medicine doctor and friend, Dr. Chris Motley! Sara and Dr. Motley discuss how eastern and western medicine should work together more and how Dr. Motley isn’t against modern medicine. He also shares many different, simple ways you can live a cleaner life and clear up some longer lasting problems that may not be solved by modern medicine. This episode will absolutely leave you wanting to make an appointment with Dr. Motley!

    About Dr. Motley:

In high school I had three options and interests in mind: art, pilot, or healthcare. I chose healthcare. A decision that had to be influenced by God and my genetics. I graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Austin Peay State University in 1997. After undergrad, I attended Logan University in Chesterfield, Missouri and completed my Doctorate in Chiropractic with a specialization in Clinical Kinesiology in 2004. I chose to specialize in Clinical Kinesiology, because in my opinion, it covers a wide range of testing techniques. I started a practice in a small house in Franklin, TN. Over the last 16, I have seen the practice grow to full capacity. I am thankful to God that this path has fulfilled and taught me so many of life’s hidden lessons. Those lessons can be tough. Not only do you see these lessons in your patients, but also through personal experience. During my sixth year, full onset of Lyme Infection (which I believe I contracted as a teen) began in 2011. It lasted more than three years, and I almost had to stop practice completely. I experienced a wide range of the symptoms of Lyme, which made me question if I could keep practicing and even help anyone again. However, with the treatments from my colleagues and mentors, I came out of all symptoms and infections. I am forever grateful to them. I thank God that I now understand what people with chronic infections go through. Interesting enough, after my battle with Lyme, more and more people came into the office wanting help with chronic infections. Energy moves through us and creates attraction for others who need that same help. I am thankful that I have been able to assist and help those with chronic problems for all my years in practice.

Another scare happened in December 2017. I had a ruptured ulcer that sent me to ICU and surgery. My surgeon, Dr. Rosen said stress was a big factor, and that I would have died if a few more hours had passed. I created a scenario of constantly saying “yes” and never saying “no”. Always pushing myself had quite an impact on my health. I have recovered fully. However, this event created a positive shift in my mentality. This shift helps me in the treatment of patients. I am now more aware of the signs of disease and sickness that are based in the “fight, flight, or freeze” mechanism we put on ourselves in this day and age. Being still, staying present, and slowing down is a major source of comfort and focus in my life and health clinic. The lessons I learn from my own life and patients continuously teach me that self awareness is the first step to healing. Teaching patients to learn how to feel what they feel and not run from it is the initial phase of the journey. This gives power and strength back into a persons life, and opens the door for resolutions. I want to help teach individuals to learn more about themselves. When they do this, it brings validation and connection within their bodies, and this leads to healing.

  • From Hairdresser to Songwriter and Pop Star ft. Shane Stevens
    Aug 15 2024

On this week's episode of Diving In Deep, Sara is joined by Singer-Songwriter Shane Stevens! This discussion follows Shane’s secret love for songwriting while being a hairdresser and how his music journey began. The two also talk about all of the amazing people that helped Shane along the way. Shane and Sara share stories of experiences in the music industry and working together on their own songs.

    About Shane Stevens:

Stevens has written for a variety of country and pop acts, including Sara Evans, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Kellie Pickler, Jordin Sparks, Ronnie Milsap, Jo Dee Messina, and Hayden Panettiere. Stevens has had multiple singles released to country radio and scored his first Billboard number 1 country hit, "American Honey," with Lady Antebellum in 2010.The song was co-written with Hillary Lindsey and Cary Barlowe.Stevens signed his first publishing deal with Famous Music in 2001 before signing with Major Bob Music five years later.

Stevens co-wrote two songs with Rochelle and country music star Sara Evans for Evans' 2014 album Slow Me Down. He also co-wrote the only original song and title track on Evans' Christmas album, At Christmas, with Toby Lightman. He then contributed 4 songs to the 2014 Jesse McCartney album In Technicolor, including the second single, "Superbad."

He moved to Los Angeles in 2014 to pursue a new direction as a writer, vocal producer, and artist developer in the pop and R&B world. That same year, Stevens founded his own publishing and artist development company, Holy Graffiti LLC, administered by Kobalt Music Group. The first act under his development, The Heirs, has been signed to Capitol Records and they released their debut EP, "Ecliptic," on August 28. For 2015, Stevens has contributed songs to several pop artists, such as "Everlasting Love," co-written with Victoria Monet and Tommy Brown, on Fifth Harmony's debut album Reflection; "Paper Doll" for Bea Miller's album Not An Apology; "Paradise" for Little Boots' album Working Girl; and At Sunset's single "Every Little Thing."

He's worked on songs for many popular artists, such as the track "Step On Up" from Ariana Grande's album Dangerous Woman. He also worked with Meghan Trainor on the song "Woman Up" from her second album Thank You and Toby Randall's song "Misfits." Two songs off of Martina Stoessel & Jorge Blanco's album Tini, "I Want You" and "Yo Te Amo a Ti," were written by Shane as well. Most recently, Shane worked on what Pop Crush has dubbed the song of the summer "What You Want" by The Heirs. He also co-wrote "Infinite Love" by country star Sara Evans & Chrisley Know's Best star Todd Chrisley, which was featured on the season 4 finale. In 2019, Stevens sold a country music musical to Paramount Pictures, where he co wrote the music with his childhood friend Karyn Rochelle. Stevens signed a worldwide co-publishing deal with Bob Doyle's publishing company Purplebeat in 2021 where Stevens received his first Grammy nomination for the song "Fancy Like" by Walker Hayes.
