    Dean's Chat hosts, Drs. Jensen and Richey, welcome Dr. Robert Sage to Dean's Chat! Dr. Sage is a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA)..

    When elected in 2023, Dr. Sage said, “I look forward to being a part of the work of the APMA Board of Trustees, APMA is the leading organization representing podiatrists nationwide, and I am honored by the trust my peers have placed in me by electing me to serve.”

    Dr. Sage’s career in podiatric medicine and surgery spans 25 years. He has been active with the Wisconsin Society of Podiatric Medicine throughout his career, serving twice as president and playing an instrumental role in passing key legislation, including an updated podiatric practice act, imaging bills, and a bill allowing podiatrists to supervise physician extenders. As a long-time delegate from the state of Wisconsin to APMA’s House of Delegates, Dr. Sage has served as president of Acey-Deucy, an alliance of small states within the House of Delegates. He also has served in leadership positions with the Midwest Podiatry Conference and Wisconsin’s Podiatry Affiliated Credentialing Board. He became active with APMA’s Membership Committee more than 15 years ago, serving as chair since 2019.

    Dr. Sage is active within the Beloit Health System and has served on the Medical Executive Committee, as chair of the Surgery Department, and as president of the medical staff. He is a coach and volunteer for YMCA and active in the Beloit, WI, community. "We are honored to have Dr. Sage as a member of our Leadership Team and Medical Staff.     Dr. Sage received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (now Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine) in 1998 and completed his residency training at PHS Mt. Sinai East Hospital in Ohio.

    Dean's Chat Hosts, Drs. Jensen and Richey, welcome the new Dean of Samuel Merrit University's College of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Mark Razzante, to the podcast!

    Samuel Merritt University (SMU) is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Mark Razzante as the new Dean of the College of Podiatric Medicine (CPM), effective May 16th, 2025.

    A graduate of the California School of Podiatric Medicine and a dedicated faculty member since 2022, Dr. Razzante has served as Interim Dean since October 2024. His selection follows a national search and reflects his proven leadership, deep commitment to academic excellence, and extensive clinical experience.

    “Dr. Razzante brings a wealth of expertise and vision to this role,” said SMU President Ching-Hua Wang. “We are confident in his ability to advance the College of Podiatric Medicine as a leading force in podiatric education and to continue fostering strong community partnerships and interprofessional learning opportunities for our students.”

    Board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Razzante has built a distinguished career focused on patient care, scholarship, and innovation in podiatric education. Before joining Samuel Merritt University as Dean, he was the co-owner and practitioner at Cleveland Lower Extremity Specialists, served as a staff physician with Kaiser Permanente's Antioch Medical Center, and taught at SMU (2015 – 2017) and Kent State University (2018-2022).

    Dr. Razzante is also the co-founder and vice president of the Collaborative Medical Content Foundation, where he has helped shape transatlantic service-learning opportunities and expand access to high-quality medical content for learners worldwide.

    An active researcher and speaker, Dr. Razzante has published more than 15 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association. His scholarly work has addressed key issues in surgical technique, conservative treatment strategies, and complex foot and ankle pathologies.

    His conference presentations span regional, national, and international stages, with topics ranging from endoscopic plantar fascia release to the management of Achilles tendon ruptures. In addition to his academic and clinical credentials, Dr. Razzante is certified in a wide range of advanced surgical procedures and technologies, including Lapiplasty®, Arthrosurface Foot Products, and Scandinavian Total Ankle Replacement.

  • Ep. 232 - Andrew Mastay, DPM - President, Michigan Podiatric Medical Association

    Drs. Jeffrey Jensen and Johanna Richey welcome Dr. Andrew Mastay to Dean’s chat to discuss “all things podiatric medicine and surgery!” Dr. Mastay currently practices as a senior staff physician at Henry Ford Medical group in Detroit Michigan.

    Dr. Mastay graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy with a Bachelor’s of science degree in Biochemistry and continued on to Oakland University with graduate coursework in Chemistry prior to earning his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery from Des Moines University. He went on to complete his three-year surgical residency training program with Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township Michigan.

    Dr. Mastay is board certified in both forefoot and rearfoot reconstructive surgery through the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Wound Management. Join us, as he discusses how curve balls and mentorship helped shape his introduction to podiatry. He discusses the importance of showing up with excellence and focusing on fostering relationships. He describes how leaning into the work that brings us the most satisfaction is the key to success and how working in multidisciplinary teams, and the strengths that each physician can bring to help improve patient outcomes where pivotal for him. Listen and he describes his unique surgical practice, including his focus on orthoplastics and limb salvage while having the opportunity to foster long lasting and impactful relationships with his patients.

    Dr. Mastay is a leader in the profession, currently serving as the president of the Michigan Podiatric Medical Association.     Deans Chat welcomes Dr. Timothy Miller! Dr. Miller is a Fellowship trained foot ankle surgeon practicing in Orlando, Florida. He received his Bachelors degree in Psychology at Johns Hopkins University with a minor in Bioethics. He later went on to complete his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine with the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and continued on with a three year surgical residency with Morristown Medical Center, in New Jersey. He then pursued a Fellowship with Foot and Ankle Specialists in Ohio with focus on Foot and Ankle Reconstruction and limb deformity correction. Join us as we discuss “all things podiatric medicine and surgery.”

    Dr. Miller is a true leader in the profession. He has served in multiple facets across several organizations, including the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and with the American Podiatric Medical Association, including being the Delegate for the state of Florida.     Dean's Chat hosts, Drs. Jensen and Richey, welcome Dr. Duane Ehredt, Jr. to the podcast!

    Dr. Ehredt is the Dean of the LECOM School of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his bachelor’s degree in human biology from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA.

    While studying at Juniata, Dr. Ehredt earned All-American honors while playing NCAA Division III football. He then earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine with honors from the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in 2011.

    Dr. Ehredt completed a Podiatric Medicine & Surgery Residency with the added credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.
    Dr. Ehredt is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in both Foot and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery as well as the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.

    Dr. Ehredt's interests lie in Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery, Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy, Limb Salvage, and Research. Hospital affiliations include LECOM Medical Center and Corry Memorial Hospital.

    In addition to his administrative/academic duties, Dr. Ehredt is a surgical faculty member for the LECOM Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency (PMSR/RRA) Program.

    Additionally, Dr. Ehredt is a commissioned officer in the United States Navy Reserve. He currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander and serves with NMRTC Portsmouth as part of the Bancroft Hall Medical Department at the US Naval Academy. He is also a certified Tactical Combat Casualty Care instructor and is part of the US Navy Reserve’s exportable training cadre.
