  • Renee Pagel
    Oct 6 2024

In 2006, 41-year-old Renee Pagel was nursing instructor in Michigan. She had three children and was estranged from her husband Michael as the two were going through a divorce. On August 5th of that year, Renee didn't show up to an outing with friends. Her father went to her house to check on her and found her dead.

Join Mike and Morf as they discuss Renee Pagel. At the time she was killed, Renee was recuperating from donating a kidney to the father of one of her students. This was the type of selfless person that Renee was. Who would want her dead? Her estranged husband Michael was an obvious suspect but police were also looking at a man who rented an apartment on Renee's property. It would take good police work to solve Renee's murder.

  • Jonathan Crews
    Sep 29 2024

On February 2nd, 2014, Super Bowl Sunday, at 11:30 PM, 26-year-old Brenda Lazaro called 911 in Coppell, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. She told the 911 dispatcher that her boyfriend, Jonathan Crews, had shot himself.

Join Mike and Morf as they discuss the death of Jonathan Crews. Many believe that Brenda was slow to call 911 that night and that she may have fired the fatal shot herself. To many, the clues don't add up to a self-inflicted gunshot.

  • Presenting: “Murder in the Orange Grove: The Troubled Case Against Crosley Green”
    Sep 25 2024

On a dark night in April 1989, a young man named Chip Flynn was shot in a Florida orange
grove. His ex-girlfriend Kim was the only surviving witness and claimed a Black man had
robbed, kidnapped, and killed Chip. A year later, Crosley Green was sentenced to death by an
all-white jury for Flynn's murder. After 32 years behind bars, a judge ruled Green was wrongfully
convicted — so why is he still in prison?

Here’s a preview of the new “48 Hours” podcast, “Murder in the Orange Grove: The Troubled Case Against Crosley Green,” which offers the most comprehensive deep dive into this shocking case that leaves one man fighting desperately for his freedom. "48 Hours" correspondent Erin Moriarty has followed this controversial case for 25 years, delving into inconsistencies — from coerced confessions to allegations of a racial hoax — that challenge the integrity of the verdict. You can hear the rest of this episode by searching for “Murder in the Orange Grove: The Troubled Case Against Crosley Green”wherever you get your podcasts.

wow... just wow

closest a listener can get to being inside the killers mind without actually crawling in there.

LOVE the detail.

not sure if you guys read the comments but one suggestion Morf... you sound like you are reading an 8th grade report sometimes. maybe add a little more personality to your facts... when your interviewing your organic and its fluid and you can tell you're engaged. when going over past crimes or the background you're very monotone and like you don't want to be there.

but really you guys. you do a fabulous job.

In Depth Reporting of True Crime

I love the great writing and reporting of this show. Mike F has a great voice for radio (or podcasts) and I really enjoy listening to him. the Mikes have done great research and getting to hear it much more in-depth than can be done on TCATT is great.

Wanted to like it!

After listening to both TCATT and TCATT Unsolved we were very excited to take the deep dive into Criminology, but after ten or so episodes find it really suffers from the lack of repartee between the two hosts. It's like they're reading from scripts from different rooms. I find I'm constantly rewinding because it just does not hold my attention as the other two podcasts do. I plan to push forward as there are 160 + episodes to go and hope somewhere along the line they have managed to improve on what is now a very mediocre presentation. Gibby, you are truly missed!

I just couldn't take it......,

I've tried to listen to this podcast at different times, hoping it got, somehow, better. But episode one is the same as the most recent. Their reading voice is terrible. There's no natural flow to it. It's like every period he comes to is a welcome surprise.
This is NOT my kind of podcast.
