Contemporary Science Fiction or the Chronicle of an Omen of Extinction; Insights on the heels of a hasty journey, a novel by J. P. Morles

  • Summary

  • Insights, an insider's view on the back of a hurried journey, is a science fiction novel with philosophical overtones inspired by current events. With this literary perspective, the narrative extrapolates the historical line of contemporary events, and synchronizes them with the fatal loops of a bad omen for planet Earth. As part of the multiple plot is the novelistic portrait of the Walker family, hopeless adventurers; from this disoriented lineage emerges Noah Walker, too self-absorbed in the trace of an obsessive thought to be able to devote time to morally judge his own actions and reality. In parallel is the planet Earth, which takes on a life of its own through its ecosystem, and is interspersed with the history of mankind, which after abstracting itself in millions of daily episodes, trying to glimpse the future, despite all the diluvian signs it finds at every step, is still unable to foresee with the meridian integrity of an irrefutable reality, if in its evolutionary transit through the planet Earth, there will be a fatal predestination. From the very beginning, Noah Walker is possessed by a cosmogonic connection. And in his desire to know what is the exalted origin of his emotional nature, a hallucination begins to develop in his consciousness that serves as a driving tension for the character to advance throughout the plot. In the transe of the neural restlessness and behind the evolution of the facts, the character is rushed to investigate, which is the moment of singularity that will lead to the creation of his destiny. Voices from all eras converge. His paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Davison, tries to prevent him, but the allegories make him fall face first into recurring “Insights”. These inner visions lead him to become aware of a perspective of the future, which, at the same time, underlies a broader precognition. The glimpse bursts into his perception as spontaneous knowledge of a chain of fateful events; these refer to the anticipated chronicle of a journey, which is already in full swing. In the midst of a disruption of the climate of his consciousness, a substance of clairvoyance takes on a life of its own: Noah Walker finds himself in the flash of an instant superimposed with the future, the realization of the mythological leap he is about to take. The neurological interface of a bad omen reveals to his conscience that a maelstrom of biblical magnitude is approaching. Then, a twist of fate puts him face to face with the envisioned climatic odyssey, and thanks to a quantum computer he manages to assemble a computer prediction machine: an army of forecasters has turned against the planetary ecosystem and its astrophysical balance, and our hero decides to take part in the counter-offensive in a leading role. Always in transmission line with the night sky of a park, the cosmic phenomenon of a conscious entity, ethereal veil that flickers between realities, and the effects of internal visions that assail him with clairvoyances, is the common thread of this postmodern fiction as a creative duality of the world around this singular character. Suspense emanates, and is embodied in the main objective: to evolve in order to prevail, above the endeavor of adverse scientific scenarios and hostile environmental contexts, which confront the protagonist with factual realities considered by many as insurmountable. The alert reader will become involved, while noticing that the news of the present comes to light to implant an alarming reality, where tragedy already looms. So Noah Walker, in the interest of redirecting the ineffable evolutionary course we have set for ourselves as a civilization, gropingly subjugates himself to try to answer a fundamental question: Where are we headed as a species by advancing in such a hasty manner in the scientific, technological and communicational construct?
