• Joey Feste | Confessions From a Recovering Control Freak
    Sep 25 2024

The more you think you’re in control, the more you’re likely to lose it. I’ve learned this the hard way. And I was the athlete who grew up on the phrase, “Control the Controllables.”

But what if the so-called controllables aren’t fully controllable?

On my latest episode of the Coming Up Clutch with J.R.™ show, I sit down with Joey Feste - a guy who once described himself as a “recovering control freak.” Joey is the Senior Managing Partner of KM Capital Management and has been advising some of the top players in the NFL for over 36 years. During our interview, we got real about Joey’s journey through sports, business, and life and how he overcame the pile of challenges that were out of his control. If you want to feel more confident when you’re dealing with things out of your control, then lock in to today’s episode.

    In this episode, you'll hear:

    • What to do when people question your reputation and try to knock you off your God-given destiny
    • Why Joey described himself as a “recovering control freak”
    • The similar challenges Joey noticed between those he served in his church and his superstar athlete clients
    • The common, yet preventable mistake around money

    Key Quotes

    • “Asking for feedback accelerates change.” - Joey Feste
    • “Your relationships are key to managing and protecting your money.” - Joey Feste
    • “It’s OK not to be OK.” - Joey Feste
    • “Spending becomes a habit just like everything else.” - Joey Feste
    • “Don’t just put people in your life that will give you feedback. Put people in your life that you can ask for feedback.” - Joey Feste

    Aug 21 2024

Today, we’re going to talk about what to do in those moments where you feel under attack by the people closest to you. This topic means a lot to me because, if I’m being honest, the passionate half-Italian athlete in me has failed SO many times in these moments. But, I’ve learned a ton from them and want to share a strategy that’s going to help you stay strong in those moments instead of falling apart.
