  • How Two Women Captured New York’s 1970s Punk Music Scene on Camera
    Apr 21 2022

The New York music scene has changed drastically since the 1970s. The artists back then were different from the artists today, the technology wasn’t as advanced but the fans' passion lives on. This can be seen in the videotaped performances of some of the biggest bands back then.

In this first episode of Brushed by Fame, I have the pleasure of hosting Pat Ivers, my colleague at WPIX. Pat and her friend, Emily Armstrong videotaped the New York punk club performances from the mid-‘70s to the mid-‘80s. This gave them a front-row seat to some of the most amazing, authentic, and dramatic performances by some of the best music bands.

She’ll share with us some of the most memorable moments that she got to witness and others that happened to her. She’ll also help us understand the differences that were there between the American and the English bands. You’ll also find out where you can go to see most of those extraordinary performances.

Tune in and listen to this first episode of Brushed by Fame to get behind the scenes of New York’s past punk scene.
