"Looks like you work at the onion. Funny or die. Okay, this is about me. Yeah. I feel like I have my, like, Tina Fey business look. That. That seems to work pretty well. I have, like, my jumpsuit look, which. Yeah, that seems to be. It's almost like the proletariat worker thing."

"And once I started doing some crowd work, it became even more fun because I would have, you know, point to the men and bring them in. And the real dance was, could I do it in a way that the men had fun? And they did, except for one male comic who got up after me, very famous back in his day comic, and made a point of saying, I hate the word vagina. It's disgusting. I like the word pussy. Tight pussy."

"And now, all of a sudden, the power structure is such that, that Rita the booker is sitting there and you're wanting desperately for her to say she likes you and that you're good and that you're funny and that you matter. And for me, stand up comedy has been the first pure form of not needing to ask for permission. There's no middlemen or women. It's just you in the audience, and if you're funny, you know, they'll laugh."

"And in the beginning, when you start out, it's pretty easy to do if you're of a certain age, as I am. I know so many people, and apparently they like me and already think I'm funny, so they're not scared to come out."

  • @BehindTheJoke | Kill Tony and Roast Comedy Culture: why is being mean such a hot comedy trend?

"So the whole, like, mean comedy trend, that's just huge right now, I have to admit. I mean, I respect it. I wouldn't say, like, hats off to kill Tony. Geez. Like, what a juggernaut. What a, you know, cash cow. Like, it's an incredible business that's flourishing, and he's excellent at it. I have to admit, the kind of gong show schadenfreude freak show aspect to it makes me uncomfortable."

"The point is, then I go to my car, and I'm sorry, I'm rambling, but I record myself again, and I record the dopamine high, and I'm doing it just, and I send these to my friend Dana, fellow comic, comedian. And she's laughing, but also, it's like, it's just evidence that, well, I'm not even sure what the evidence is. What was real? I don't even know. That's what's crazy."

"I'm dying to answer this question because I have been on stage for the better half of my life, whether it's as an emcee or doing comedy or mostly doing music. But the last few years, I pepper my life with going on stage, but it's not a regular thing. And I bring that up because I think when you're really jamming and doing it a lot, you've got, like, uniforms that you just throw on and, you know, they work."
