  • Beers and Beards Episode 154: Traveller Whiskey and Narrow Path Old Fashioned
    Jun 28 2024

After an extended break, we're back. This week Gary breaks out the Traveller Whiskey, while David drinks Narrow Path Old Fashioned.

Traveller Whiskey is a collaboration between Grammy award winner Chris Stapleton and Buffalo Trace. The blended whiskey has complex aromas of vanilla, aged fruit and buttery shortbread rounded off by caramel and a touch of oak. The palate has just a touch of sweetness, followed by spice, toasted nut and oak flavors, with a robust finish.

Narrow Path Old Fashioned is a beer inspired by the popular cocktail. It's an amber lager with blood orange peels, Luxardo cherries & bourbon soaked oak chips.

  • Beers and Beards Episode 153: Fretboard/Brink Electric Llama
    May 17 2024

We're back this week with a new episode, and David drinks a beer that is a collaboration between two of his favorite breweries, as Brink and Fretboard came together to produce Electric Llama.

Brink and Fretboard Electric Llama is a Bavarian Style IPA. This Bavarian IPA is moderate strength India Pale Ale made uniquely Bavarian by the use of new varietal German hops. Late additions of Tettnang and Calista hops give this ale notes of intense fruit and berries.

Gary also tells us a great story about how he got a private tour of the location of JFK's assassination when he was in Dallas.

  • Beers and Beards Episode 152: Belleflower Finch and Thistle
    May 2 2024

We're back after a short hiatus and David celebrates by drinking Belleflower Finch and Thistle.

David fell in love with Belleflower Brewing when he visited Portland, Maine, and was excited to see that they now distribute to Ohio. Belleflower Finch and Thistle is a dry hopped New England IPA, pouring pale golden hazy with aromas of big papaya, kiwi, pineapple, and stone fruit that will make you long for summer. The strong pale ale opens with flavors of grapefruit and other tropical citrus and stone fruit for a crispy taste that finishes with some light malt sweetness.

We chat about Gary's recent trips and Abby even makes a cameo. We also discuss the following news stories:

  • Beers and Beards Epiosde 149: Great Lakes ' Conway’s Irish Ale' & Bourbon Lemonade
    Mar 6 2024

We survived the Facebook outage of 2024. That means go find us and like the page. This week we gear up and look ahead to St. Patrick's Day. David gets that good red beer in Conway’s Irish Ale. It takes him back to after prom getting a sixer of some Killians.

In a plot twist, Gary has Karrikin's Bourbon Lemonade. Should have been refreshing but you'll just have to hear him tell you how it is.

A new top bourbon was crowned by Barleycorn, whatever that is. Is it legit?

We shoot the breeze fill in the rest of the time with nonsense.

    Enjoy

  • Beers and Beards Episode 148: Perennial Artisan Ales "ESB"
    Feb 28 2024

Welcome back to the nonsense. This week David A. McKinney tries a new beer, a weird offering maybe, in Perennial Artisan Ales , ESB. Bitter to the brim or something like that.

Gary casually sips and old favorite in Basil Hayden Subtle Smoke and pontificates on how he feels about the current state of bourbon.

Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg finally come out with a RTD version of Gin and Juice. Turns out that David was just a mere toddler when that banger dropped on the world.

Tennessee, which may in fact be good for nothing, is trying to ban cold beer sales. W T F
