    Halftime changes the momentum

The Penn State third-quarter defense took things to a new level on Saturday, powering the wounded team to a victory. The defense forced a three-and-out to start its work in the second half. Then, on third and 15 from his own end zone, Wisconsin quarterback Braeden Locke threw a pick-six interception to safety Jaylen Reed.

Reed's score was the catalyst that helped propel the team to the win. The defense put clamps on Wisconsin on all but one drive, where Locke threw a 33-yard deep shot after running an up-tempo play to get Penn State off-balance. But from there, the Nittany Lions snuffed out the Wisconsin offense, forcing multiple three-and-outs during the game.

Injuries change momentum, Penn State changes it back

The story of the game was nearly that Penn State's best players exited in the first half and the team lost an undefeated season with that fateful luck. The Nittany Lions struggled to find a rhythm on offense despite putting up 194 yards in the first half. Part of the issues started in the first quarter when starting right tackle Anthony Donkoh suffered another injury while in pass protection of quarterback Drew Allar. After trying to come back into the game for a drive, he was shut down for the rest of the game.

But the full Andy Kotelnicki run offense was unleashed in the second half with backup quarterback Beau Pribula. The third-year passer engineered an impressive offensive performance that powered Penn State to a victory. Pribula gained 28 yards rushing and 98 yards passing on the way to a 21-point outburst in the third and early fourth quarters.
