    Dear Bellamy,

I want to ask you about Satanism. When I was in college, my roommate was a Satanist. I never really asked her what that meant. I just knew that she was super nice. Growing up Christian I felt like I should have been worried about her and her potential influence on me…. But honestly, she had a strong moral and ethical compass. I never felt like I needed to worry about anything. I was wondering what witches think about Satanists. Thank you! Looking forward to hearing from you! As my roommate would say, Hail Satan!

In this provocative and enlightening episode of Ask a Witch with Bellamy Black, we welcome Luz, a practicing Satanist, to share a glass of wine and dive deep into the misunderstood world of Satanism. Together, we debunk the myths that often paint Satanists as evil, shedding light on the true philosophies behind this often-misrepresented belief system.

Luz explains that the name Lucifer literally means "light bearer" and clarifies that most Satanists do not believe in a literal devil or hell. Instead, they view Satan as a symbol of rebellion, independence, and the pursuit of knowledge. We also explore the concept of duality as recognized in Satanism, particularly through the imagery of Baphomet and the principle of "as above, so below."

Our conversation delves into the political and social movements associated with Satanism, highlighting how Satanists are actively involved in positive community efforts, often running non-profits and advocating for individual freedoms. We also discuss the dangers of judging a book by its cover, reflecting on how our world is divided by misconceptions and fear.

Ultimately, we conclude that while evil exists in this world, it’s not being perpetuated by Satanists. This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in understanding the real values behind Satanism and challenging societal prejudices.

Grab your favorite drink and join us for a candid conversation that just might change your perspective.

    Dear Bellamy Black,

It was great meeting you at Blessed Be Tea and Apothecary the other day. While I was there, we got to talking about divination and tarot. While I felt like a lot of my questions were answered, you suggested I write a letter to the podcast so that an expert might weigh in on the topic, so here ya go.

I have always felt drawn to practicing divination through tarot card readings, but I am completely overwhelmed. Do I have to start with a specific kind of deck, like the Rider Waite deck, or can I choose one that has artwork I like. Am I even allowed to buy my own deck, or does it have to be gifted to me? I don’t want to be attached to the guide book that comes with the deck, how can I learn to read fluently without the guide? and What is the difference between oracle decks, and tarot decks? Ugh so many questions, I really could keep going, but I think that’s a good start.

I cant wait to hear what your expert has to say on the matter. Thank you for taking my many , many questions. Blessed Be!!

In this insightful episode of Ask a Witch with Bellamy Black, we sit down with professional tarot reader and diviner, Loreen Muzik, to explore the fascinating world of tarot. Together, we debunk some of the common myths surrounding tarot reading, like the notion that you must be gifted your first deck.

Loreen shares her expertise on the differences between reading tarot cards by the book versus tapping into your intuition, and how both approaches can be valuable in your practice. We also take a deep dive into the rich history of tarot, with a special focus on Pamela Colman Smith, the brilliant artist and woman of color behind the iconic imagery of the Rider-Waite deck. We honor her legacy and discuss her significant contributions to the divination community.

In addition, we explore the various forms of card-based divination beyond tarot, including Oracle and Lenormand decks, and how each offers unique insights and guidance.

Whether you’re a seasoned tarot reader or just beginning your journey, this episode is packed with knowledge, history, and practical advice to enrich your divination practice.

  • Episode 8 - How do I embrace Magick with a Neurospicy Brain?
    Aug 7 2024
SHOW NOTES PLEASE LIKE, FOLLOW AND SUBSCRIBE! Today's Listener Letter is sent in by "Can’t Sit Still in Cadillac". Dear Bellamy Black, I am disabled and on the spectrum. I want to practice magic but I am struggling to focus my attention. I know meditation is really important, but I find I really struggle with turning my brain off and just being silent. When I research different magic methodologies I can only really find information for neurotypical brain types. While I am able to utilize some of these techniques I find most of them to be challenging at best. I was wondering if you had any insight on some good resources for a neurodivergent witch, such as myself. Its hard not seeing any resources readily available for someone like me. Am I not supposed to be a magical person? In this heartfelt episode of "Ask a Witch with Bellamy Black," we address a deeply moving listener letter from a neurodivergent witch struggling to find resources and techniques that resonate with their unique way of experiencing the world. They expressed their struggles with focusing their attention, particularly with traditional meditation techniques that emphasize stillness and silence. They shared their frustration at the lack of resources tailored for neurodivergent individuals and questioned if they were meant to practice magic at all. We explore the shamanic view of "mental illness" and how, in various cultures, behaviors seen as “disturbed” by Western standards are considered gifts. These behaviors are often viewed as blessings from the gods, enabling individuals to perceive the world through a unique and sacred lens. We discuss practical tools and methods for embracing magic with a brain that is always active. We discuss ways to harness and channel this constant mental activity into magical practices rather than fighting against it. And we highlight resources and communities that support neurodivergent witches. These include books, and practitioners who offer inclusive and adaptive approaches to magic. We offer reassurance that being neurodivergent does not preclude one from being a magical person. We emphasize that magic is for everyone, regardless of how their brain works, and celebrate the diverse ways in which people can connect with their magical practices. Join us for this empowering episode as we validate the experiences of neurodivergent witches and offer practical advice for integrating magic into their lives. Remember, your unique perspective is a powerful asset in your magical journey! I want to learn about Sex Magic! In general society tells us to keep whatever our sexual practices might be to ourselves. They tell us it's taboo to talk about arousal, masturbation, and pretty much anything other than heteronormative missionary style sex practice for procreation only. They tell us our naked bodies are sinful. Pardon my language but fuck these social constructs. I have always been something of an introvert. For a lot of my life people might have described me as mousy, a wallflower type. It wasn’t until I was introduced to my current partner that I learned how much power was lying dormant in my body. They helped me explore the Tantric side of sex; they helped me access orgasms. I wholeheartedly believe that there was a side of me that was liberated from chastity when I learned that my body could feel this powerful, and sex helped me feel that way. I gained confidence and love for my body for the first time in 40 years. I want to normalize talking about the passion and energy that explodes out of a person’s body when they reach Climax. I know that energy, in general, plays a huge role in manifestation and spell work. Can you discuss how to utilize sexual energy for magic? In this explicit episode of "Ask a Witch with Bellamy Black," we delve into the often misunderstood and taboo topic of sex magick with our special guest, Katie Mae Scripps. Katie is a priestess of the intimate arts and a somatic life coach, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to our discussion. None of us would be here without sex, yet our society struggles to embrace and talk openly about it. While everything around us is oversexualized, especially in sales and consumerism, genuine conversations about sex remain stigmatized. This episode challenges those social constructs and explores the power and potential of sexual energy. Our conversation is inspired by a powerful listener letter, which discusses the societal taboos around sexual practices, arousal, and body positivity. The listener shares a personal journey of discovering the transformative power of sexual energy through exploring tantric practices with a partner, leading to newfound confidence and self-love. They express a desire to normalize conversations about the passion and energy released during climax and ask for guidance on utilizing sexual energy for manifestation and spell work. We cover these topics in depth, discussing how embracing our natural sexual urges can lead to personal empowerment and greater self-love. Katie shares her insights on how sexual energy can be harnessed for magick, bringing forth our deepest desires and enhancing our spell work. Join us for a respectful and enlightening exploration of sex magick, and discover how you can tap into this powerful energy to transform your life. #religion #spirituality #sexmagick #tantra #sexualawakening #utilizingenergy #burstsofenergy #priestessoftheintimatearts #katiemaezing #nostupidquestions #selflove #consent #pleasure #knowledgeispower #blessedbe #askawitch #bellamyblack #podcast #traversecity #cydeproductions To Find Katie Mae Scripps Facebook and Instagram @katiemaezing Website to Book Appointments with Katie Mae www.katiemaezing.com TEA Two To Tango Ingredients: Damiana, Gingko, Rose, Aschwagandha, Shatavari, Hawthorn, Lemongrass, Horny Goat Weed Order today at www.blessedbetea.com SIGN OUR PETITION TO CHANGE THE OED DEFINITION OF “WITCH” https://chng.it/jDsL52PBBK SPONSORS KATIE MAE SCRIPPS Facebook and Instagram @katiemaezing Website to Book Appointments with Katie Mae ...

  • Episode 6 - Am I Religious or just Spiritual?
    Jul 10 2024
PLEASE LIKE, FOLLOW AND SUBSCRIBE! Today's Listener Letter is sent in by "Settling into my Spirit Side". Dear Bellamy Black, The thought of religion and spirituality has me conflicted. Growing up, my family was very religious, almost to the point where some may say it was “cult-ish”. There were expectations of behavior and punishment or ridicule if I did not comply. At first, these methods of fear mongering completely turned me off religion of any kind. I identified as Atheist, for years, but in my older age I feel called to spirituality again. But I am not sure where to really start. I was researching Wicca, and found the Earth Based spiritual and energy-based practice to be intriguing, but ultimately I am struggling with the underlying structure of it all. I kind of just want to be a free range heathen. Is this ok? Does one have to associate with a particular religion in order to find their spiritual side? I want to learn, and in some ways I need guidance (or at least I think I do). Where do I begin? Join Bellamy Black as she interviews Dr. Sarah Montgomery-Richards, Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Northwestern Michigan University in Traverse City, MI, and Adrian College in Adrian, MI. Together, they delve into the nuanced topic of Religion vs. Spirituality, illuminating the idea that there are "many paths up the mountain." In this enlightening conversation, Bellamy and Dr. Sarah explore the personal relationships people have with their Ultimate Sacred Reality, discussing how these connections shape their lives and worldviews. They examine the differences between religion and spirituality, highlighting how structure and organized religion play distinct roles in these ideals. Religion is often characterized by established doctrines, rituals, and institutions, providing a structured framework for communal worship and shared beliefs. Spirituality, on the other hand, is more individualistic, focusing on personal experiences and inner growth. Bellamy and Dr. Sarah discuss how organized religion offers a sense of community, tradition, and continuity, while spirituality emphasizes personal exploration, authenticity, and a direct connection to the divine. They also explore various ways to research and learn about alternative religious movements, offering practical tools to help listeners access religion and spirituality in an informed and respectful manner. This episode will inspire you to reflect on your own spiritual journey and consider new perspectives on the sacred. Tune in for a thought-provoking discussion that bridges the gap between religion and spirituality, helping you navigate your own path up the mountain. #religion #spirituality #ultimatesacredreality #manypathsupthemountain #newreligiousmovements #wheredoibegin #davidbowieisgod #gobroncos #nostupidquestions #knowledgeispower #blessedbe #askawitch #bellamyblack #podcast #traversecity #cydeproductions HARVARD PLURALISM PROJECT https://pluralism.org/ GREAT LAKES TREATS - local mushroom foragers https://greatlakestreats.com/ To Find Dr. Sarah Montgomery-Richards NMC Human Resources Directory https://www.nmc.edu/departments/human-resources/staff-list.html TEA ENCHANTING CHAI- CONTAINS SO "MUSH" MAGICK Black china tea, cinnamon, assam tea, cardamom, clove, ginger, black pepper, chicory, chaga, reishi, red rooibos, licorice root. Today's Listener Letter is sent in by "Crone to the Bone".

    Hello Bellamy,

    I am an Elder Witch.

I’ve been the Maiden, I’ve been the Mother, and now I am embracing my role as the Crone. It has been an interesting transition. What I love most of all, is that I have fully settled into who I am. I feel confident about my needs, desires, boundaries, and spirituality. To be blunt, it’s pretty freaking sweet.

I am writing to you because I feel the archetype of “Crone” is severely overlooked, not only in the witching community, but society overlooks the elder generations frequently. I was wondering if you could shed some light on the role and importance of Crones?

    Episode Summary:

In this enlightening episode, Bellamy Black sits down with her 80-year-old best friend, lifelong spiritualist, herbalist, and founding member of the Intergalactic Hag Nation, Ruby Webber. Together, they explore the profound wisdom of the Crone archetype, a powerful figure representing wisdom, intuition, and inner knowing, deeply rooted in the collective unconscious. Known also as the Wise Woman, the Crone guides us through life’s transitions and fosters transformation. Ruby explains how this archetype embodies deep wisdom and intuition, guiding individuals through significant life changes and fostering personal growth and transformation.

Ruby and Bellamy highlight the invaluable contributions of elders, particularly in the metaphysical and feminist movements. They discuss how elders have paved the way for contemporary practitioners and the importance of honoring their legacy. The conversation turns to being unapologetically oneself. Ruby shares insights on embracing your true self without worrying about societal judgments, encouraging listeners to live authentically and confidently.

Ruby also offers a unique perspective on living in a society that often overlooks its elders. She discusses the challenges she faces and the importance of celebrating the wisdom that comes with age. Ruby and Bellamy emphasize the need to respect our elders, reach out to them for guidance, and avoid patronizing language like "young lady." They discuss creating a culture that values and learns from the experiences of older generations.

Tune in to this transformative episode as Ruby Webber and Bellamy Black guide you through embracing the Crone archetype and the timeless wisdom of our elders.

    Dear Bellamy,

I want to ask you about Glamour Magick. I heard this term recently, it resonated with me, but yet, I don’t know much about it. It is my understanding that to put a “glamour” on someone, is to make them see a person or an object as something that they are not. I feel like I do this, unintentionally, on a daily basis. See, my fashion style is what some would call eclectic. When I step out into the world wearing these items, I feel exotic and daring. But in reality, underneath it all I feel pretty small. I am projecting this strong confident image, but this is my glamour to the world. My specific question is, am I using this glamour as a crutch? Sometimes I feel like I am deceiving myself and others by portraying a persona that isn’t my true self. It almost feels like I am using these costumes and makeup to protect my soft squishy persona inside. Is it helping me to be the strong and confident person I want to be? I feel like I am a long way off from feeling the way my clothing projects. How would you suggest I approach glamour? I'm missing something.

In this compelling episode, host Bellamy Black sits down with Alder (they/them), a glamour magic practitioner, to explore the transformative power of personal aesthetics. Join us as we delve into the world of glamour magic, where clothes, makeup, tattoos, piercings, and hairstyles become tools for both concealment and empowerment. Alder shares their journey with glamour magic and how it has evolved over time, highlighting the ways we can use our appearance to shape perceptions and influence how we are perceived.

The discussion covers the role of fashion, makeup, tattoos, and piercings in self-expression, offering practical tips for incorporating glamour magic into everyday life. We also explore the unique ways goth culture embraces and utilizes glamour magic, providing a powerful means of self-expression and identity.

A significant portion of the episode addresses how personal trauma and experiences of abuse have shaped our use of glamour magic. Alder and Bellamy discuss healing and reclaiming power through intentional self-presentation, sharing inspiring stories of transformation and empowerment through aesthetic choices.
