According to the Bible, God has an enemy. Because this enemy has set himself in complete and total opposition to God, he is completely and wholly evil, as opposed to God, who is completely and wholly good. Where did this enemy come from? If God created him, was he always evil? If not, then how and when did he become evil? What passages in the Bible seem to describe him, and what can we understand about God's chief enemy: the satan.

We continue our discussion of what aspects of our prayer life may make our prayers more effective. One of those things is fasting. Jesus assumes that his followers will regularly fast as believers did throughout the rest of the history of the Bible.

Fasting and several other habits of prayer are less commonly practiced in the modern West, but the Bible encourages us to continue praying privately, together as a body of believers, while fasting!
