Captain Horatio Hornblower, of CS Forester's book series, is a character defined by self-criticism: Driven by anxieties that even those closest to him view him only as a failure waiting to happen, and completely unable to accept or believe praise of any kind.

This week, Stephen tries to figure out why this series appeals to him, and logically concludes that it must be the big wooden boats.
