In todays interview we talk to Joseph Dowd, a member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde in Oregon. Joseph has worked in several positions and departments within his Tribal Community. In our second treaty episode we look at the Middle Oregon Treaty of 1855. Under the provisions of the 1855 Middle Oregon Treaty, the tribes ceded 10 million acres to the United States, and 578,000 acres were reserved for what became the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon.

Our first tribe in the Southeast region of the United States, we look at what makes this tribe and culture a unique part of Indian Country! This is a continuation of our series highlighting Native American Nations.

We look at the History, read the articles of the Treaty, discuss the Tribal Nations involved with this treaty as well as the illegal government seizure of the Black Hills. We dive into how this treaty impacts tribes in the Northern Great Plains to this day. The first of many episodes highlighting Treaties with Tribal Nations. In this week's episode we shift gears to highlight a specific Tribal Nation: The Hopi Tribe. We ask, who are the Hopi? Where are they located? What makes them unique compared to other Tribal Nations?
