About this listen

“It’s you, it’s you, it’s all for you. Everything I do.”

On a 28-day #NoFap streak and riding the high of self-discipline, Todd Stevens is ready to spend the summer break stacking wins. No distractions. No degenerate urges. Just pure, unadulterated focus.

Then a punk from a rival school steps into his path — not to fight, but to deal.

He's got a video.
And not just any old video.
Not some low-value OnlyFans reject Todd could find on an Instagram doomscroll.
This one’s exclusive. Private. Personal.

Because the girl in the video?

Todd knows her.

“I heard that you like the bad girls. Honey, is that true?”

Curiosity cracks resolve. And with three long, empty months ahead, Todd’s monk-mode summer spirals into obsession, tangled with angst and teenage ennui. Every pixel. Every frame. Every glance toward his windowpane.

He tells himself it’s under control.
He tells himself he can stop.

But how do you break free when your worst impulses are the only thing holding you together?

A raw, unsettling coming of age story about longing, where obsession shapes the beloved in your mind — until the cracks begin to show.

Soaked in shame, obsession, and Lana Del Rey.

“They say that the world was built for two.
Only worth living if somebody is loving you.”

Note from the author: tribute. is a story inside the anthology, left on read. If you're looking for the ebook version you'll find it there, which is also on Kindle Unlimited.

This book explores human nature at a very complicated age that is the coming of age. It is very well described and narrated, though it is a bit disturbing. It describes human impulses and relationships. I found it quite interested though.

A bit disturbing

Modern sex drama with a hard hitting end that feels frank, is just the right amount of smutty, and explores modern voyeurism/neediness and love/lust in a social media age. "People love gossip and there's nothing more palatable to the gossiping tongue than sex." It ends up at feeling like a guy monologue about eSex, 'the thirst,' and the girl next door but carries through that to something deeper and more phantasmic. As a guy myself I could relate to a lot of the material, to a point it felt uninspiring or superficial rather than provocative on the face of it but there is some insidious subtext. The best part is how creepily obsessive it is willing to get while locking us in the psyche of the voyeur to a point it feels understandable rather than entirely weird, "the singular heartbeat in the room." Sometimes the dude bro perspective is tiresome but it ultimately works well and delivers some smart thrills. The book does well at seeding themes and is maybe a little too blunt about themes early on that play out with better subtlety later; nice foreshadowing (like a segment of the lead editing a video of the girl as a way of exploring how he views and tries to author their distance/relationship). It explores agency and vulnerability in a smart way capitalizing on perspective rich with parallels to male gaze and self interest. At it's worse it can feel condescending or mansplaining like explaining what tribute means as a sex act. Narrated by the author his voice is a good fit for the material but the sound design is slightly tinny. It's sometimes too much like a dude bro hang out with references to Warcraft, Pornhub, etc that are fun but can get thin at times; but it is more cerebral and shocking in deeper ways.

The writing is sharp and atmospheric. You feel the tension build in every scene. The Lana Del Rey references aren’t just aesthetic it’s hauntingly familiar for anyone who’s wrestled with identity, control, or the blurry lines between affection and fixation.

tribute is one of those rare audiobooks that lingers in your mind long after it ends. The prose is poetic, the pacing is perfect, and the voice performance captures every nuance. It deals with heavy themes, but in such a thoughtful and intimate way that it never feels overwhelming. I felt completely immersed the entire time — like I was walking through the story right alongside the characters. A quiet, powerful listen.

Haunting and beautifully written

I wasn’t totally sure what to expect from tribute. but it ended up hitting way harder than I thought it would. It’s dark, raw, and painfully honest in a way that really captures the messy headspace of being a teenage guy trying to hold it all together while everything inside is quietly falling apart.

Highly recommend!
