Even better than the first book

Loved getting a glimpse into what women had to go through during war time and how they coped and bonded with others

Excellent narration

I loved the story, but it was enhanced by the amazing narration. I have never heard an audiobook that was read with so much personality, excellent character portrayal, and the accents were credible. It made the story fly by, and I was sad to see it end. Just wonderful.

An Enjoyable Continuation

I definitely recommend reading the first book first so you understand the background and history of the characters. I enjoyed getting to pick their story back up. The narrator fits the story perfectly. I would love a follow on story about what happens with Buntie!

Charming

Almost as enjoyable as the first book in the series, Dear Mrs. Bird ( not necessary to have read it first, but it does establish the characters and background). Lovely characters, humor, and bits of sadness = a wonderful, very British, story. The narration is absolutely perfect !

New reader

New to the whole audible world and so happy to add this series to my list of great books. I cannot wait until 2023 for the next one.

As good or better than book 1

Sequels are often disappointing, but if anything, this was even better than the first book in the series. I was totally caught up in it. AJ Pearce has a gift for showing the broader picture while at the same time telling an enjoyable and engrossing story. I liked the people and was pulling for them. Anna Popplewell's excellent narration is what puts it over the top. I will be looking for other books she has narrated.

Delightful

A lovely series about women in war time English. Enjoyed learning about women in 40’s England along with life during WW2.

Delightful

Just a delightful, heartwarming and yet eye opening story about the ladies who remained home while “their boys” when to war. Can’t wait for AJ Pearce to write more!

Women’s place in the Wat

I loved the narrator. I liked how the author wove the good and aspects of war life together and the way she made me feel with the main characters.
