Professor X, the X-Men's founder and mentor, and Shi'ar Empress Lilandra have been forced to love each other from afar - he has to remain on Earth to lead the X-Men, and she must stay with the Shi'ar to run the empire. Now, Lilandra must turn to the X-Men for help against a threat to her domain - and possibly the Earth as well. Shi'ar scientists have learned of a creature that devours galaxies and is heading toward Shi'ar space.

Beset by a panicking people and by several assassination attempts, Lilandra calls upon the X-Men for their assistance, for the galaxy-eater will target Earth next - but the price for stopping the galaxy-eater may be higher than the X-Men expect. Ahhh!!! This was sooo good!!!!

Wow. I just finished it and wow. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Yes, my review comes after reading all of those reviews of its boringness. To those concerned with thar perspectives I say - the book is heavily astronomical theory for the first few chapter or so, then it shifts Into Shi'ar politics. While I LOVE action , I also understand that a story takes build up so I was able to navigate sections without lots of physical action quite well. My review also comes after listening to nearly every X-Men audiobook Audible has to offer AND after seeing Season 1 of X-men 97' >> which i think helped re-socialize me to the Shi'ar empire milieu. I will say that this book will challenge your imagination with many things and phenomena we dont usually get to imagine >> or rather, that is true in my case, but when you get it right, some of the scenes are just awe-inspiring. By chapter 7, I was so hooked, i iterally paused my workout in the gym so that I could focus on the imagery >> which I never do! This story is good stuff... would love to see it as a Disney funded movie/short film someday.

Kinda boring..

I've listened to alot of Xmen stories
.....this one was slow.and boring the enemy is lack luster and it all just seems like a metaphor for addiction.

just really lame plot. long and drawn out, no excitement. would not have wasted a credit on this

Horrible

This book was hard to listen to and the plot was dull. The narrator changed the name of the beginning character. You can't tell who's talking and where the ONLY action scene starts or stops. The only reason why its 1 star was because Professer X shows slight emotion. Other then that the book was like watching grass grow.

Boring

I never understand why a comic book is more centered on the drama than on action. I understand the reason behind the storyline's build up, but to be centered on the drama with little action is inexcusable.. if the book is 10 hours I'd say about 1 hour or less had to do with fighting. this is a nongraphic novel. This should have tons of action. I am disappointed. the narrator wasnt bad, but the vocal range is limited. her accent for Gambit was ok. the rest was meh. I've listened to some novels where the narrator didnt even have to say who was speaking and I knew who it was. this one, i was glad there was something written for her to read to let us know who was speaking.

oh my god why?

Seriously, I never thought i'd be bored listening to danger room training but this book accomplished it. after the dryest and longest opening that devotes a ridiculous amount of time to explaining how Shi-ar research projects receive funding (not kidding). they finally get to the x-men and spend ages describing every detail to the point where I had to turn it off while storm was falling out of the air because it was just so dull. granted it's not really the fault of the performer the book sucks but they don't sound interested even a little, not that I blame them. but yeah the characters voices are not good. overall the book is like listening to paint dry. seriously who buys an x-men book and goes "I can't wait to hear all about the political machinations of science grants for the shi-arr!"
