About this listen

I've always been her shelter in the storm. Hockey players.

MMA fighters.

Rock stars.

The boys in blue.

Even sexy SEALs have all offered to slay my dragon - or in my case, my stalker. Why can't they get it through their thick, stubborn heads that I can take care of myself? I'm no damsel! But...what if the real villain in this story is me? Now the one person I've never been able to resist has appointed himself as my protector.

I don't know what's more at risk - my life or my heart.

Enjoyable but chaotic story telling

I really enjoyed the story, it was funny and sweet, and the narration was fantastic. The only issue I have is that I think it translates poorly to audio book for this particular book in the series. This book is about an author, and I know many authors say their characters speak to them during a writing process, and that is clearly exampled in this book, however it makes the MFC seem a little like she has multiple personality disorder, because every thought she has is accompanied by a ton of other “voices” of her conscience and characters, which made it hard to follow the inner dialog at times in audio form. I’m sure when reading it, you can clearly understand the difference between the MFC and her inner voices, but when listening it because confusing at times and I had to keep rewinding and registering to sections to sort out the what and who etc. there is also a lot of group text chains which added to the confusion because then it became confusing between if the dialog was her “ inner voices” or actual side character she was conversing with. The other thing that while enjoyable but also disliked at times was the constant inclusion on side character in nearly every chapter. I would have preferred having way more one on one time with the male and female main characters. It seemed at times that after every interaction there were a litany of other characters involved with dissecting the interaction and it became annoying by the mid point of listening. I get they are all characters from the previous books but a cameo or three would have been plenty for the group, not another past character popping up every single chapter.
So if you can deal with chaotic story telling and are good at organizing thoughts quickly, then you won’t have an issue with this book, if you prefer a uncluttered story line and focus on the main characters mostly, you may want to skip this one. Overall it was funny at times, enjoyable story line tropes and lighthearted despite the stalker story line, and the Disney references still amaze me with their abundance, so it wasn’t all bad.

Another one of the OG Covenettes gets her story told. The resident romance writer of the group Maddey finally has her chance at happily ever after, after writing so many in her books. Maddey's childhood crush & best friend to her older brothers is called in to help discover who her stalker is. Dex & Maddey pushed into an extended close proximity has sparks flying between these long time friends.

I love this story & it is just as good as all the other BTU Alumni books. Maddey is a Disney obsessed individual & all the references in this book are seriously amazing! The chemistry between these two characters is something for the story books.

The audiobook for this is so good, the voice actors do a wonderful job of brining these characters to life! You definitely need to read this book!
