About this listen
Blind dates suck.
Even worse when a trio of strange witches show up at the bar and everything gets weird. I mean, there’s a thief with a grimoire, pregnant witches, and sorcery afoot. Or in cars. I’m not really sure how they’re getting around.
But it’s my job to stop them. I’m the Marshal of Magic and Memphis is my town. Technically, it’s in my territory, but doesn’t my town sound way better? Get out of my territory is so generic and vague. Get out of my town. Now that’s a line a guy can growl.
But the witches have other ideas. They want to call up a demon and conduct a ritual that will unleash a hell on Earth. Lucky for Earth, I can stop them.
With some help. And Luck. I’m going to need it.
Fans of Kevin Hearne and Jim Butcher should binge this series to get a Dresden and Iron Druid fix. If you like your heroes humble, well, the Marshal might not be your guy, but if you like ‘em batting out of their league to right what’s wrong with the world and save normal folks from magical malfeasance, then grab your copy and check him out.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

In the not-too-distant future, a 21-member crew launches from Earth. Their mission: to establish a temporary colony on Mars. Little do they know that colony will become permanent–and the last stand of the human race. Because, without warning, every single person left on Earth simply...vanishes. Now, a thousand years later, the resources needed to sustain life are running out, and the very existence of the Mars colony is threatened. Humankind has only one option–to return to its home planet.

Magic Enforcer
Although this is book #2 in "The Marshal Of Magic" Series, and I haven't read book #1, I still enjoyed this story. It is a creative tale about a man who has a job to protect his area from any magical malfeasance. When he discovers a coven of witches, a thief who has stolen a grimoire, and some inexplicable happenings going on, the marshal will need to check into things. The internal dialogue of the marshal had me laughing out loud. I recommend this book to others with the caveat that some sexual scenes are briefly described. Spencer Dillehay's narration is great and he adds entertainment to the story. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

A funny witch tale
I loved this story. The lead character is hysterical as he takes on the witches who want to end his life. His wife disappeared years ago and now he heads for her twin sister if he gets in trouble.. I laughed out loud at some of his descriptions of the fights he got himself into. I certainly recommend this audiobook. I read it as an ARC reviewer and hope I get to review the next book. The narrator does an excellent job also.

As funny as it is intense.
Here is the Marshal of Magic back in action. Looking for his wife who's been gone for 12 years now. Waiting on a blind date in a bar, he runs across three witches after a small time thief. Little does he know they were just impregnated by a demon and their bellies grow larger in minutes. His internal dialogue had me laughing my head off, not to mention his conversations with his new ghost friend, Elvis. I was so excited with the Marshal I will be reading books 1 and 3, in my library, right away. Magical fights between dark witches, and a demon with help from his Valkyrie sister-in-law and his ghost. Get ready for some magical battles he survives by the skin of his teeth and a whole lot of humor. Performance got 4 stars due to several places throughout where sentences are immediately repeated. The actual narrator was terrific.

Dark & Gritty Magic
This short Marshall of Magic book (2) feels more like an interlude between books 1 and 3, which is fine if you know that going in. Our Battle Mage protagonist is assigned by The Judge to protect his territory, and he's on the case. In this case, the first date is a Shocker! No spoilers, but watch out for those first 3 witches, and the other 10, and their Leader!! Plenty of action, magic, and dark humor. Fun stuff and I'm looking forward to reading/listening to book 3.
