Hi all !
I had to read this book on short notice and was hesitant at first but listening to this audiobook it really brought it to life. The story is full of twists and turns that the whole family would enjoy. Consider getting this book, it’s one of the best ones I have ever read.

Memory Lane

I grew up listening to Jim Hodges read G.A. Henty on cassette and CD, the countless hours spent on road trips and with my Walkman entranced as it fed my imagination. As a young adult, I was even honored to get an early listen to some of his projects as a proof reader. i was then ecstatic to find him on audible and discovered that unlike many childhood experiences, the quality remained after the lenses of nostalgia were removed.

Thank you sir for the many fond memories from your wholesome entertainment. You are one of a few men I still hold in high regard for my younger years!

I absolutely love GA Henty, and this book is definitely one of my top favorites!

"Good book, Bad narration"

The story is a good and captivating one but the narration is not so good and spoiled the book a little.

Great read

What a fun tale of the crusades. Without them, the world would be under Islamist reign instead of Christendom.

Fantastic adventure for all ages!

We absolutely love G.A Henty books. They can be a bit difficult to read aloud, so we always get the audible versions. This tale is a fast paced adventure during the time of King Richard and the crusades. My daughter and I greatly enjoyed this book, and highly recommend to boys and girls. Ages 8-9 and up. There are some battle descriptions that might be alarming for sensitive children, but my 10 year old had no issues.

I got through it.

My main problem with this and the three other audiobooks I bought from this company was he reader. He overemphasizes every other word as though he were reading to a toddler. He didn't research the actual pronunciation of the words he was going to read. That's not unusual, but most people can pronounce "diet", "comparison" and "copious".

Great Story!

Such an entertaining and fun way to learn about the history of the crusades and King Richard. The narrator's voice was a bit annoying. I would definitely try to find another version in the future. Our entire family enjoyed this and we listened to it on a cross-country trip together.

Captivating and thoroughly enjoyable!

This was an excellent purchase and was well worth the time spent listening to it! The audio recording was not quite as good as another version I have by this author, yet it is still very good!
