In the US our food has been preserved, cross-pollinated, deamidated, poisoned with pesticides, and modified. Buying organic is costly and there's a limited supply. So why not find your own food in nature? This audiobook will help you find everything from fruits and greens, to nuts and mushrooms. Not to mention, it's a fabulous healthy hobby. To be able to spend your time in nature enjoying the wonders of our earth in all of its abundance is therapeutic. If there's a doubt in your mind that you'll enjoy the end result, make sure to check out the recipe section. The frozen blackberry dessert sounds delicious.

As someone who grew up in the deep rural countryside, foraging was a way of life for me as a child. I didn’t know it had a name but I do recall the sweet berries and plums I was able to find as I went through the bushes with my friends, returning home with scratches and itches. This audiobook is a beautiful reminder of my childhood explorations and highlighted how much of a risk we were taking by ignoring the potential dangers of picking and eating plants that we thought were OK. I wish we had known about the universal edibility test explained in the book.

As a nut-lover, I particularly enjoyed Part 6 which covered Trees and Nuts. The bonus recipes laid out in Part 9 are a pleasant surprise. This is a well-researched text that can help contemporary families recapture the joys of the wild.

I grew up in a country home and foraging was my life. But I wish I had this book with me then because my mom gave me so many rules I ended up not enjoying any new discoveries. She feared I would eat poison and die, lol! I am still alive and I look forward to foraging again when I have the chance, and with this book in my possession, I know it will definitely be more fun. It has great and helpful information for anywhere, and the narration is very nicely done.

I have always enjoyed exploring nature, and I've seen people pick berries each year. It made me wonder which plants were edible and which to be careful about. One interesting fact I learnt from the audiobook was that there is a safe type of Sumac and a poisonous type of Sumac. It was also interesting to note that Lily of the Valley is also toxic. It was great that the audiobook came with a pdf containing photos of each plant mentioned to quickly understand what each plant looks like.
