About this listen

Can he make this moment last a lifetime?

It’s been three years since Padraig lost his wife and since then, he’s been sleepwalking his way through each day, focusing only on work and family, while hanging out with his best friend, Emmy.

The sum equivalent of Emmy’s experience with relationships is contained within the pages of the romance novels she writes while sitting at the end of the bar at Pat’s Pub. That is if she doesn’t count the secret crush she’s been harboring for Padraig since the first day she laid eyes on him.

When Padraig realizes he’s in love with Emmy, they fall into each other’s arms. However, adversity strikes and Padraig–terrified of loving and losing again–pushes Emmy away. It will take the combined romantic efforts of the entire Collins’ family to help him win the heart of his best friend…and his second chance at happily ever after.

From Simmer to White Hot

Padraig "Paddy" Collins and Emmy have been a simmering pot for a couple of years. I have to admit to liking the straw that breaks the camel's back, pushing him to man up. And how he jumps in fast and strong is hot, but it's perhaps tempting fate just a tad too much.

From an intimacy standpoint, I kind of like how they go from zero to sixty in the blink of an eye. Then there are the fantasies and kinks that start making an appearance almost immediately. Love it!

I wasn't thrilled with his overreaction to some news, or how Emmy let it slide so effortlessly. The rest of the story was fantastic, even when tugging at my heartstrings.

No doubt that there's heartbreak between these pages, but I think it's more bittersweet than sad. As terrible as the passing of Mia was, Padraig found an equally good woman and a second chance at love and his dreams.

I love how the patriarch, Patrick "Pop Pop" Collins, is at or near the heart of each book in the series that I've read so far. (I haven't read them all, but I can't imagine him not being a strong secondary character. Yes, that sentence grammatically sucks with all the negatives, but I don't care.) He's like the glue that keeps them together but also the oil that encourages them to be a well oiled machine.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are Lee Daniels and Connor Brown. I whole heartedly enjoyed listening to them.

Padraig and Emmy finally take the plunge

Padraig and Emmy finally take the plunge. Their love story has been a long time coming. Padraig has had a heartbreaking history to heal from, and it was touch and go for bit, but finally he got over the hill. Now these two get to live happily ever after. Narrators bring the story to life, although I admit I sometimes have a hard time understanding the accent myself.

Book 13 - Wilder Irish

This is book 13 in Carr's Wilder Irish series and another wonderful addition to this series but can easily be read as a standalone. The book starts as they all do with our endearing Pop pop. This book focus' on our main characters Padraig and Emmy. While both of our main characters have delt with unthinkable loss, they've reacted to that loss in much different ways. Padraig living a life of grief and Emmy trying to grasp a newness. I love the lightbulb moment after Emmy decides she can't wait for her dreams any longer. The community of friends and family surround both of these characters in the best ways and while Padraig and Emmy have a few ups and downs it's clear that the Collin's curse struck Padraig again and this time...it'll be for keeps.
Great dual narration that brought all these characters to life and a smooth flowing, captivating storyline. Love the sweet, steam and humor (bar scene with the wipes was so cute) and I also loved the careers of both these characters. Overall, a great listen and I just love this family and series!

Finding Love Again

Wild Chance is book 13 in the Wilder Irish series and follows Padraig and Emmy from friends to lovers.

Wild Chance begins in Ireland on the "boys" trip given to Pop Pop for the previous Christmas. Pop Pop is talking to Paddy about life. Reminiscing on the past when he met his wife. And asking some tough questions about Paddy moving on from the death of his wife.

That tough conversation, plus other family conversations, has Paddy reconsidering his relationship with Emmy, his best friend. These two met at Pat's Pub years ago, when she would come in to work. Because she is a romance writer, she can work anywhere. She has found inspiration from watching the members of Paddy's family fall in love.

Paddy's family loves Emmy and treat her like a member of the family. She attends family dinners, holiday dinners and girls night. When Pat's Pub reopens, Emmy brings a date to the celebration. And not just any date. When Paddy sees this, his little green monster comes out.

He always thought of Emmy as a friend. He was not ready to move on from his wife. But this impetus makes him realize he feels more for her. And boy is his family on board.

Things are going good. They are in a committed relationship and enjoying the benefits. But when it looks like history is going to repeat itself, Paddy walks away. He is afraid of losing another person he loves.

It will take the entire Collins clan to convince him to give love another chance.

I understand Paddy's fears, but I felt like he would not listen to Emmy and that really bothered me. I felt like he just walked out on her. No discussion. Nothing. They were just done.

Lee Daniels has narrated yet another book in this series. She handles the friendship, love, fear and heartbreak of Emmy so well. Connor Brown brought out the attitude of Paddy still mourning his wife and not wanting to get involved with anyone. Then the little green monster scene. And finally his paralyzing fear.

Wild Chance

Wild Chance is book number thirteen in the Wilder Irish series. Padraig and Emmy’s story is sweet. Both came into each other’s lives at a time of grief. Padraig was still grieving his late wife. Emmy was dealing with her parents’ deaths and her brother’s incarceration. Emmy decided to step out of her comfort zone and enter Pat’s Pub. Emmy and Padraig both fancied each other, but just weren’t in the right mindset to start new relationships. They became best friends over the next few years. One night Emmy asked Padraig on a real date. He turned her down at first. That one act caused Padraig to evaluate his feelings for his past wife and Emmy. This is such a sweet love story. Lee Daniels and Connor Brown did a great job narrating this book.

Loved!

Since losing his wife three years ago, Padraig throws himself into his work at Pat's Pub. His best friend Emmy sits at the end of the bar everyday writing her romance novel. She's in love with him but he continues to put her in the friends zone. Tired of Padraig refusing to see her as anything other than a friend, Emmy decides to date. Padraig is not happy about Emmy dating and especially doesn't like it when Joe Moretti takes an interest in Emmy. With advice from Pop Pop, Padraig finally admits he's in love with Emmy and they begin their love story. Will a misunderstanding and Padraig's fear of losing Emmy keep them from their HEA or can he finally let go and love again.

Their story will take you on a journey about finding love for a second time. Great narration by Lee Daniels and Connor Brown.

Love Paddy and Emmy!

Paddy and Emmy have always been best friends, but she also has feelings for him that are much more than you have for a friend.  Paddy lost his wife several years back from an illness and doesn’t want to get close to anyone again.  After coming back from a trip to Ireland with his family, he decides he should probably try and get back to a normal life again.  The last time Emmy asked Paddy on a date, he said he couldn’t, so she decides she is going to start dating.  Let’s just say, a little jealousy goes a long way. I loved the conversations Paddy had with Pop Pop to help him through a lot of his nervousness about Emmy.  There were some sad parts in this story and you couldn’t help but really feel for Paddy as he navigated through some tough times.  Emmy and Paddy are such a wonderful couple together and I am glad they could finally get their HEA.  You can’t help but just love the Collins family!!  Lee and Connor did a great job with the narration!
