Healing

Franz Kafka ~ “A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us.” The only book that has been like an axe to me is Boundaries - I needed the axe to break the frozen sea. It’s probably the book that’s had the single biggest impact on me ever. Henry’s new book and his latest work has melted the ice for me. For any Christian who’s experienced hurt from the church and outside church from people who don’t understand suffering, what Henry has gone through will give you encouragement to keep going with boundaries. It’s not going to be easy, but Henry’s story will give you strength to carry on. For me this book will be one of those I listen to regularly. I’m already carrying out some small steps and noticing a difference. The last time I told someone about Jesus I was 13 and it did not go down well for me. So for now I’ll pass this book on to people as a testimony because my journey is still ongoing - I’m using this as a 2nd rebirth. But this book is not just for telling people about Jesus, it’s for people who’ve been hurt by things done in His name that never came from Him in the first place. This will heal you and encourage you and confirm your hurts are real when no one else did! It will also help others to be more empathetic to suffering of others and false Christian teachings. Thanks Henry!

This is exactly what I want people to know about my beliefs

I have listened to this book on Audible and also have the hardback. I will use it as a tool to help me articulate what I believe. I am so thankful for this book; I cannot recommend it enough.

great book! a real life story of The prodigal son and how God is faithful through it all

Loved this book and Dr Townsend's story but also how he weaves through it all are popular cultures perceptions and. how God answers even societies assumptions about Christians in a very real way not presumptuous

Psychology and the Bible agree

The author’s knowledge of the Bible and psychology is very impressive and encouraging. We are created by a God that loves us so much that he gives us the right and the will to choose him.

real life and science supports the truth!

I loved the entire journey with this author: the reminders that those everyday encounters with God in my life are REAL and a way to begin to engage in meaningful dialogue with others about the truth!
Finally I also understand why I continue to struggle with certain matters, and may require a deeper confrontation of the source!
