Acerca de esta escucha

From the "hilarious, heartbreaking, and insightful" (The Miami Herald) best-selling author Jennifer Weiner comes a sweeping, modern-day fairy tale about first romance and lasting love.

Rachel Blum and Andy Landis are eight years old when they meet late one night in an ER waiting room. Born with a congenital heart defect, Rachel is a veteran of hospitals, and she's intrigued by the boy who shows up all alone with a broken arm. He tells her his name. She tells him a story. After Andy's taken back to the emergency room and Rachel's sent back to her bed, they think they'll never see each other again.

Rachel, the beloved, popular, and protected daughter of two doting parents, grows up wanting for nothing in a fancy Florida suburb. Andy grows up poor in Philadelphia with a single mom and a rare talent that will let him become one of the best runners of his generation.

Over the course of three decades, through high school and college, marriages and divorces, from the pinnacles of victory and the heartbreak of defeat, Andy and Rachel will find each other again and again until they are finally given a chance to decide whether love can surmount difference and distance and if they've been running toward each other all along.

With honesty, wit, and clear-eyed observations about men and women, love and fate, and the truth about happy endings, Jennifer Weiner delivers two of her most memorable characters and a love story you'll never forget.

I hadn't read anything by Jennifer Weiner since her first novel. This one was decidedly "meh". I found both of the main characters flat and uninteresting. They made some really stupid decisions and I didn't have any confidence at the end of the book that they'd learned enough to make any better choices in the future.

Sort of a bore

What did you like best about Who Do You Love? What did you like least?

About half way through I realized there wasn't going to be much of a story. All I wanted to do was finish the book as soon as possible - always hoping I'd be surprised and the story would develop into a book worthy of my spending time listening to it.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting part of the story was how the main characters met and later reconnected.

How could the performance have been better?

I didn't care for the performances. There was no emotion in the voices. The performers sounded like they were just reading the book - not acting out the characters.

Do you think Who Do You Love needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Absolutely NOT!

Any additional comments?

A great disappointment!

A lame story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Fantastic narration with two narrators- loved the story with well-developed characters....until the very end (literally last couple pages)- it felt like the a cliche "happily ever after", ending fairly abrupt as if the author got tired of writing the book or the publisher called to remind her the deadline was looming.

Loved it...except the very end!

I loved the book, however the ending left me wanting more! The enjoyed the people that read the story!

Good book

Would you try another book from Jennifer Weiner and/or Sarah Steele and JD Jackson ?

As far as stories go, Jennifer Weiner's was fine - entertaining and harmless. It was not a literary triumph by any stretch. At some points it became really difficult to suspend reality enough to believe these two loved each other so much w/o having any real experience together (beyond sexual). I also found the main characters not especially likable. In Rachel's case I think it was Sarah Steele's weird narration.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I thought that the Rachel narrator was so monotone with a weird inflection in her voice. She grated on my nerves.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No - it would be trite and dull.

Any additional comments?

Story was predictable and "love story" forced. People were given way more meaning in the story than they earned.

Good to pass 13 hours... if that's all you want

I loved the book, I loved the narration but the ending seemed so rushed, like she just did so well all the way through the book and then at the very end just decided she had no more time to put into it... overall a great book but the ending , not so much

such a great book till the very end

Good story. Good character development. Way too many detailed gratuitous sex scenes - it was overkill.

This is my least favorite of her books. I did not buy that these two people were a good couple. I never really found myself pulling for them. Also didn’t like the abrupt ending.

Never Connected

So much character development, then felt like a very quick ending. Narration was just not my style...not awful, but I noticed it even after the first few hours, which is unusual. Usually I adjust quickly.
