About this listen

First in a stunning new trilogy by New York Times best-selling author Teresa Mummert.

"I'm not naive. I know I don't get the happily ever after. My knight in shining armor took the highway detour around this god forsaken shit-hole. I've made peace with that. That doesn't mean I'm going to lay down like a doormat and let every cocky prick in the trailer park have his way with me."

Cass lives a depressing life in a small trailer park in Eddington, Georgia, with her mother and abusive boyfriend Jackson. She works hard to barely make ends meet. But everything changes when Tucker White, the lead singer in the band Damaged, walks into her diner. He tries to show her that there is more to life than the hand she has been dealt, but Cass soon learns that being with Tucker will come at a high price.

In the middle on this one

This one has about all the ingredients that I enjoy. It has angst, danger, heartache, and love. I just had problems with the beginning of the story. Around the middle to the latter part the book was enjoyable. My review may not be helpful due to the fact I liked some of it, but not all aspects of it, and with that in mind I wouldn't recommend this one either way.

Great Performance/Good Book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have always been a fan of Grace Grant's performances. I was reluctant to purchase this book because of reviews. The performance was outstanding as usual with Ms. Grant but I am not sold on the story. I will finish out the trilogy. It is not that I disliked the book I just didn't love it. So yes I would recommend the audiobook but may not the paperback version.

If you’ve listened to books by Teresa Mummert before, how does this one compare?

First one for me.

What does Grace Grant bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Grace Grant is outstanding. I buy all the books that she narrates simply because I think she is that good. She does well doing both male and female voices. In this book she brings a little bit of a southern accent to the mix. It was not over the top like others I have heard trying to pull of a southern accent. I probably would not have enjoyed the book as much if Grace Grant was not narrating.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to it all in one sitting.

Just a feel good White Knight Romance

Wonderful story. Has all the classics heartaches you expect from a good romance. The narrator did a wonderful job. Can't wait to read more.

Trailer trash with a sense of duty

This was a good story I listened to it in one day! I really felt for Cass, but she has a serious messiah complex! Trying to save the world one addict at a time! This story is filled with sadness, hopelessness and Tucker the rocker with a heart of gold, who is hell bent on saving her. I like Teresa Mummert's books and this is one of her better ones. If you've got cash I'd buy this one and save my credit for a more expensive book.

Review: White Trash #1: White Trash beautiful

If you could sum up White Trash Beautiful in three words, what would they be?

Love conquers all!

What other book might you compare White Trash Beautiful to and why?

Oh, I don't think I've really ever read anything quite like this. Um, the abuse both characters suffered in Jessica Sorensen's "Callie & Kayden" series and maybe Julianne's painful experience in Gabriel's Inferno by Sylvain Reynard.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene where they were dancing in the hotel room and probably the very last scene in the book which I won't describe due to spoilers.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book hurt. People suffer the abuse that Cass suffered every day, it's tragic, but at least for a fairy tale moment this girl found her handsome white knight to rescue her along the way. Well, it wasn't smooth going in the book either. There were loads of speed bumps along the way. But, it made for an excellent story.

Any additional comments?

Grace Grant is an excellent performer and I find myself looking for audiobooks that she specifically has narrated. The skills of the performer make a huge difference for the book and she is just fantastic!

Other Reviewers Trashed It - I Loved This Book

Cass was born and raised in a trailer park, not a cute one where the elderly or retired folks live with their lawn ornaments on their little patches of grass. The area she was poverty-stricken, high crime and a lot of drug activity.

This leads us to find out that her mother's drug addict as is ex boyfriend Jackson. Cass' father left when she was young and her mother kept the happy ending alive by saying he would be back. Cass does the best job that she can in caring for her mother. She works like crazy as a waitress garnering modest tips. Her boyfriend demands money from her all the time, to feed his drug habit. If he is unhappy with the amount for unhappy with anything he beats Cass..

One day while working her shift at the rundown café a well dressed, handsome man walks in. Cass immediately thinks he made the wrong turn because he does not belong in this café. He only has eyes for her and returns day after day.

Cass allows herself to dream about being with this handsome, perfect guy and one night they give in to one another and their passion. Cass is riddled with guilt for cheating on her boyfriend and tells Tucker (handsome man) that that cannot happen again and that she cannot be with him.

Somewhere along the way (I cannot remember the exact situation) Cass realizes that Tucker is the front man for a band that is gaining in popularity. Moving closer to the dreams that he and his band mates have always wanted.

Tucker does not give up easily, his understanding and drive make him irresistible. However, Cass knows who she is committed to – her mom and her boyfriend, trying to get them well . She needs to support them physically, financially and in any other way. Besides she does not think that she is good enough for great man like Tucker.

I really enjoyed this book. I was concerned because the reviews were rather evenly mixed, low stars for some and high stars for others. I fall into the light latter category. I thought this book was fantastic. There are a few things that one has to remember - that this is a book about love, not real life. However, there is always a chance…

I have no problem recommending this to those of you who like romances with a good plot and story line. There is spice mix stuff in there, too.

The narrator did an excellent job. She is a solid performer and sounds very professional. She let the story tell itself using her unique ability to perform a wide array of characters. An easy four-star performance in my judgement. As with 99% of my books I did speed it up a little bit, but only a little bit like 1.25 times instead of 1.0 at. That's a personal preference for me. She sounded great on regular speed and the speed that I prefer.

Notes: Mature themes, a bit of strong language & violence.

I've had this book on my wish list since I joined Audible. As I said, the reviews kind of scared me away, but when it came up for sale at $4.95 I grabbed it. Again, I would recommend this book to those of you who are burned out on the BDSM books or for those getting up the courage to try something a bit more risque but are not ready for all out BDSM.

The rest of the series are on my Wish List.

I enjoy leaving reviews, as I know that I read them the reviews of others before I purchase a book. If you found my review helpful in your decision about this book, would you please select yes directly below this paragraph? Thank you so much.

Please consider "following me" here on Audible.com. I purchased a lot of books by authors that I am faithful to. I also have the opportunity to review books in all genres, many that I would not pick up on my own. I have been pleasantly surprised by new authors and narrators. Thanks!

Not a Cinderella Story!

I was worried in the beginning because I wasn't connecting with the characters. This book is a bit darker than the typical New Adult Romance books I read. This book shows the scary side of an abusive relationship and how fast drug addiction can ruin a person in a blink of an eye. This story is about a girl who lives in a run down trailer with her drug addicted mother and abusive strung out boyfriend. Her father abandoned them when she was very young. Cass is working as a waitress in a run down diner. She's been attempting to save her tips to follow her dream of moving on to a better place. Unfortunately, events keep taking place that make her dream more and more like an unrealistic fairy tale. She becoming more jaded and starting to believe she really is trash. One day, a tattooed motorcycle riding rock star named Tucker walks into the diner and sits in her section. (this is the part I have a hard time imaging) He can tell she is different & has this deep sudden connection with her. Cass doesn't believe that this man can really want her. She basically treats him like crap but he doesn't go away. Meanwhile, Tucker witnesses Cass being mistreated by her drug addict boyfriend named Jax. Tucker suddenly wants to protect her and be her knight in shining armor. He continues to show up regardless that she continues to say no. Gradually, Cass becomes more drawn to Tucker because he truly cares her. She just can't figure why he wants her especially after she finds out he is a famous rock star. He likes her because she doesn't use him for his fame or money. Eventually, they both can't deny their extreme physical attraction to each other. So, yes she cheats on her abusive drug addict boyfriend. Well, lets just say I start to cringe because I knew that the inevitable shoe was going to drop. And of course, it did big time! In fact, my stomach was in knots. I don't want to spoil anything but the "Jax situation" really depressed me. Its sad to see a person destroy their lives because of a drug addiction. To watch a person turn into a monster in the end. Overall, the story wasn't bad. It was more of a darker tragic romance story. I wish the last chapter hadn't felt so rushed. Seemed a bit anticlimactic! I would have enjoyed more of Tucker's back story as well.
