When darks secrets surface the living must pay

Inspector Fenella Sallow is haunted by her past and obsessive about the truth…no matter how painful.

When a body is found on an isolated footbridge in the scenic village of St. Bees, Fenella must piece together the events that lead to the grizzly death. All evidence points to a murder by the escaped serial killer dubbed "Mr. Shred".

As the investigation heats up, Fenella and her team discover a world darker than most can imagine. And it soon becomes clear the killer is determined to teach the police a lesson.

With time running out, Fenella and her team engage in a deadly cat and mouse game that could cost more than her career. Can she solve the case before another victim dies, or will Mr. Shred vanish like a ghost, just like he did from prison?

Set against the backdrop of beautiful coastal Cumbria, an ancient land of legend, folklore, and myth, Whispered Bones is the second book in the Detective Inspector Fenella Sallow series.

This riveting crime thriller will keep you hooked until the very end. If you like police procedurals with psychologically complex characters and shocking twists, then you’ll love Whispered Bones.

Interesting, twisted story

It's an interesting, twisted story complete with good guys, bad guys, and self-serving folks. Lots of intrigue.

Excellent!! Where is the rest of the series??!!

These first two books are so excellent—plot, characters, narrator. And now Audible does not have books3, 4, and 5. Disappointing.

Tricky, tricky. The author just started the book.
I just got sucked in. I think of this as good
writing. :-) Fine characters, well plotted and a real pagecturner.

Audible needs to record the rest of this series!!

I wasn't sure during the first book of the series if I would like it but I went ahead with the second book and it turns out that I like it very much and would like to continue but audible has not recorded the rest of the series yet!! Get on with it already!!

The MC is very likeable with a stable family life and a good head on her shoulders. The supporting cast of characters are also likeable and I want to know more about them. Even the superintendent is ok. She is a bit over the top in how she treats people but I guess there has to be someone not as easy to like as the rest.

As some have noted in other reviews there are not a lot of clues as to who the killer is along the way but the overall story is good.

Deborah Balm is a solid narrator that clearly annunciates, doesn't mis-pronounce words, and has a wide variety of character voices. I definitely wouldn't hesitate to listen to a book that she is performing.

Too long

The narrator was often difficult to understand with the various accents she spoke. Several red herrings—somewhat contrived story. With unfinished subplots. Not sure I’ll read another in this series
